Yet another young, little known player announces his presence this week. This time it's 26 year old Corey Connors from Canada, ranked over #600 in the World. He shot an impressive 4 under 67 today to hold the solo lead as play winds down on day 1.

Carry on my wayward drive

There'll be pars when you are done

Lay your weary wedge to rest

Don't you shank no more

Don't mess up the last hole, -1 is pretty darn good for the day.

Yeow. Anyone remember that 4 iron he snapped in half? Don't remember which tournament.

It is scary how close the spectators are to line of sight. Mickelson hit into them last week.

Specifically Second Shot, 11th Hole, Final Round, 2007 Masters. It's funny, because he needed a 4-iron for his second shot at 13, which he hit a 5-iron close enough to make eagle. April 8, 2007 to be exact. I didn't look up the date either.

Great round today. If Tiger shoots say 67 or 68 tomorrow, He might be the leader... He played well, got a couple gusts that cost him, but overall... some vintage stuff.

I thought his swing looked awesome today...sequencing was on point, balanced, beautiful.

He got 2 bad breaks with gusts that I saw, the second shot at 12 and the third shot at 14. He may of only hit 9 greens, but he made 5 birdies.

If he hits it like this at Augusta... I think we're going to have a 1986 type buzz in 4 weeks. Scary thing is he could've shot 66 or so today... The driver is better.... @colin007 I offered to let Tiger borrow my driver for a month or so, but he politely declined.

Yeah, great! And we'll see where he winds up on Sunday. We all saw what happened to "Good karma" Sharma on Sunday at the WGC Mexico last week. It takes time to learn to win in the pros. d

I think some of the folks in Mexico might not be all that "golf savvy". Having said that, I see folks in America who seem to be very trusting of  a pro's abilities to hit the ball where they want to! It seems that some people enjoy putting themselves in danger!

It was nice to see Bill Haas out there after the tragedy that happened in LA back in February. He played okay, shot 73, though.

The other group they were showing a lot of was the Watney, Knox group. They showed a lot of those two today. It was also nice to see Jimmy Walker playing well.

I know this is just the Valspar Championship thread. Tiger hasn't shot that one 65 or 66 yet in this comeback. Is it just me, or does this comeback seem different than all the other ones?

Mickelson hits into the spectators most every week ;-)

But yes I agree, they have been scary close at times.

He hits his 3-wood and 2-iron fairly well... He doesn't need that 44.5" shaft in his M3, he needs a driver that plays at 43.875", I'm telling you he goes to that length... MARK MY WORDS... He wins the Masters.

Just a side note, but nothing, NOTHING, grinds my gears more than when he takes iron off the tee and hits a skanky shit shot.

Oh you mean that tee shot into the trees on 16? That was one hell of a recovery, from that shitty tee shot.

That cut 5-iron on 17 was Vintage Artistic Tiger.

Oh and for the record, Tiger completed the "No Sixes Challenge" today @iacas.

He posted that early, too. Isn't he a Web.com Tour grad from last year?

Tiger is about to tee off. The winds has calmed today, starting off at 6-8 mph and going down to almost 0 towards the evening. We might see lower scores today.

    • Day 107 - More pitching practice, playing around with trajectory.
    • Yea Club Rat said it. I really enjoyed the Senator and the Judge, then over to Grand National where there a couple good courses plus a fun par 3. The one I do play whenever I visit there is Ross Bridge; something about this course that is just good fun. I hope to play more of the courses in the future, but tomorrow is promised to no one, so hope is the key word. Have Fun, iSank

    • Eh. He broke ONE of Tiger's records. Youngest to be ranked #1 in AJGA. It didn't help that Tiger's birthday is in late December, or that Tiger didn't play many AJGA events before he was 15. Did he do any of these things? TIGER WOODS' AMATEUR VICTORIES YEAR WIN(S) 1984 10-and- under Junior World Golf Championships Boys    1985 10-and- under Junior World Golf Championships Boys    1988 Boy's 11-12 Junior World Golf Championships   1989 Boy's 13-14 Junior World Golf Championships   1990 Boy's 13-14 Junior World Golf Championships, Insurance Youth Golf Classic   1991 U.S. Junior Amateur, Boys 15–17 Junior World Golf Championships, Orange Bowl International Junior Look at some other AJGA Players of the Year. How many of these names do you recognize? A few, for sure. I assure y'all, I'm not trying to pee in your Cheerios. I just don't get what the point is. Okay. I get that, then. Thanks.
    • Day 56: 4/19/2024 Okay, even though I'll be teeing it up in a tournament in less than a week. I couldn't find time to get to the range today.  I spent time on the indoor putting mat.  And I spent time in front of the mirror with my 7 iron. Then again later with the driver.  I also thoroughly cleaned all my clubs.
