I have a friend that usually does security at the Masters. I am fairly certain that he has the Tiger, JT, and Couples practice round.

No but it’s weird. There aren’t even really insects. No bees. No chipmunks. Birds. Nothing.

That is weird actually. I’ve sadly never been there. But ‘no’ fauna at a golf course in Georgia? Almost Stephen King like......

Whoa...I didn’t see that. Is it solid gray with the neon zip? Nothing else on it?

FYI: the Masters official Instagram account is doing Stories.

For those not familiar w/Stories, it's videos and photos not part of the regular feed and they disappear in a day. Right now, there's a lot of video on the merchandise tent and photos of the course and patron tips. You can download them before they disappear using third party services but it's a hassle.

That’s so cool Erik! I can’t wait to do that myself. Hoping for 2020 or 2021 so I can arrange the trip appropriately. Did you get some goosebumps when you first got there? I bet when you got to 18 (first hole for you yes?) it was just a feeling only die hard golfers can relate to. Just awesome!

Here's the thing… I'm not easily impressed. I've talked to a number of very famous people, or had meals with them. I've been to some pretty cool places.

I wasn't awed by the elevation changes. I know what TV does to a course, having spent a LOT of time at Muirfield Village and/or Oakmont, for example.

The bunkers - their depth - were the only real thing that impressed me.

The rest I either knew or had read about or wasn't surprised by.

I don't wanna sound like a downer. I'm just not an easily impressed kind of guy.

I remember standing by the fairway bunkers on 18, and being blown away remembering the shot Sandy Lyle hit.

I can understand that. Rather than 'impressed' I guess I was more referring to the 'moment.' For example, I'd seen pictures and read about the Mona Lisa all my life. But the first time I stood there at the Louvre and saw it there in its small glass case, surrounded by people, I wasn't 'impressed' with the artwork itself but I certainly got a case of goosebumps standing there looking at it in person. Does this make sense?

    • Good advice. In general, you want to take whatever weight you are lifting to a couple of reps before failure, for muscle growth. There are other tactics for PT related stuff. I would trust your PT person.  For muscle growth, you can go like 30 reps to failure. It is tougher to gauge. Also, it takes 2x as long to do the same number of working sets per week if you are doing 15 instead. It is way less efficient, but your case is special because of the injury/aggravation to the hip.
    • Several years ago I got paired with a twosome of golfers, one of which had a maybe 5-year-old son with him. The kid had a putter and a 7i with him, and on some holes he would drop a ball near the green, chip on, and putt. If the kid started to get distracted, the dad would ask, "Do you need to rest?" The kid would nod yes, and then take his dad's seat riding in the cart for a couple of holes. It was a slow day, and the kid was polite and friendly. We got through 18 just fine. (If it had been a crowded course day, I'm sure it would have been less pleasant.)
    • Caution for the seniors on weight training: Listen to your body. (I'm 75) I got a recent session with an orthopedist after a training-related injury. I put too much weight on a new resistance machine at the gym and ended up with bursitis in my left hip. Of course, it's the hip I dislocated back in 2023. I have my first physical therapy session tomorrow. I remarked that some days I can do 45 lbs. chest press - two sets - without much effort. But other days it drops down to 30 (😩) with just one set. (Complicating factor: I had digestive problems in this fall and lost about 20 lbs., with slip in muscle tone.) Orthopedist said that I want to feel some resistence, but that I should go with lots of reps with manageable weights rather than trying to set some sort of lift-pound record. I'm sure I'll get some refinements on lifting during tomorrow's PT.
