Seems like a no brainer, especially since these rounds aren't televised.

I don't have a problem with the relaxed rule. As long as no one decides to wear  a "Speedo".

If it made JB Holmes play faster, I'd buy him a track suit to wear!

with the "traditional attire thread" started, figured I'd bump this one.  How do you feel about shorts on Tour for competitive rounds? do you even care?

Practice rounds, fine. Competitive rounds, still not for it. And from what I've heard that's mostly a sponsor/TV thing.

The players run the Tour, after all. If they wanted to be able to play in shorts, they could make that the rule. So what is keeping them from doing it? I've heard sponsors/TV.

That's interesting, I never thought that sponsors would care. I honestly don't think anyone would stop watching if the lads started wearing shorts.

I still think they look better in shorts.

Companies wanting to hold onto "the traditions of the game" sort of thing or not wanting to see terrible tan lines?

Maybe just "pants feel more professional"?

We still have to wear a suit at many PGA type meetings.

They’ve worn shorts in those charity rounds before tournaments. They aired a few last year.

I'm bumping this.

I don't think shorts would ruin the tour. I'm not that extreme. Hopefully, I haven't gone full-on-get-off-my-lawn-mode. Because I think I still prefer the "no shorts" for competitive rounds.

I will say, I kinda like the joggers. Certain guys can pull those off really well.

I really don't care. I see the guys wearing shorts and think that it somehow gives off a more athletic vibe. Wearing pants is fine too, but what other sports have the athletes wearing pants? Shuffleboard, bowling, etc.? Pants were a lot cooler when they made a statement. But then again, there are some that should only wear pants because they have "The last time I saw legs like that they were hanging out of a bucket of chicken" type legs.  But again, I really don't care.

When I was 6 years old my favorite baseball team wore shorts for a couple of games in the dog days of summer. At the time Chet Lemon was my favorite player. (Great first name by the way.)

Anyway, I thought their uniforms were so awesome I immediately switched my allegiance from the Cubs to the White Sox and I've been a White Sox fan ever since. chet-lemon(1).jpg.78ac9cb7f1669e307482d4fd8c843e23.jpg

    • You DO realize that all of your prior posts in this thread are still there for folks to read?  Put the shovel down. As to best player not to have won the career grand slam, ever hear of a fellow named Sam Snead?  Or Arnold Palmer?  Or Phil Mickelson?  Or Lee Trevino?  All-time greats who were never able to complete this.  Because it's hard, and not doing it doesn't really say anything about greatness.  Or "demons".  Or being "jacked".
    • I know I’m really resurrecting this thread but what do you guys think of Jason Day’s style of dead hand wedge from say 30-90 yards. You can start with a fairly vertical shaft so it still uses the bounce I think. Is speed the limiting factor here because of the lack of wrists, or would the feel of dead hands actually cause lag on the downswing and actually end up using more leading edge than bounce anyway.  I just wonder would it be easier for distance control in terms of backswing length.  Any opinions on it?

    • Day 206 - 2025-04-24 Got some good partial wedge work in today. Same stuff as the full swing, but I can see why I was trying to do something a bit different.
    • Day 4:Full Speed Spectrum Training Session 8/24 Dropped 2 mph from last session. This is my 6thFull Speed Spectrum program and I have often struggled swinging so many heavier weights and maintaining speed with the195 gram measuring weight.
