Has anyone heard of - or used - Popcorn Time?

https://popcorntime.io

It's apparently a site that lets you stream a bunch of movies, and looks legit, but is at the best borderline?

I'd never heard of it and have no plans to use it at all. Just wondered what others had heard or seen.

Edit: Post #9 below clarifies "looks legit" to say that I meant the design of the site, not the actual legality.

Well, they have this disclaimer on the site:

Which I take to mean, "we are pirates and this material is stolen."

Yes… but apparently millions of people are using it. So I thought I'd mention it. :)

I've been meaning to try it to use Showbox, but have been having problems backing up my Mini before I go about it. I'll probably do it sooner or later.

Here's a recent piece about it:

Haven't been to their site in over a year.

Now that it's in beta, they may have newer material.

I recall their selection of movies was mainly older material, old westerns, movies from the fifties through early eighties.

If your interested, check out "inboxmovies"

Another site "veehd" has music vids, current releases, and along tons of adult material.

Site has adware, beware, use "adblock" to deter annoying popups.

Thanks SavvySwede,

Does the site require login/joining to watch movies?

BTW, by "looks legit" I didn't mean it looked legit to me. I just mean it didn't LOOK or have the appearance of many of the illegal sites. Because it's well designed and appears visually to be a legitimate site - it "looks" like a Hulu or Netflix or what have you.

I did not mean to imply that the site "seems" legitimate. Only that the designers spent the time to make it be well designed, leading people to think it's legitimate.

No login required. Works pretty much like youtube except there are multiple links for everything. The Vodlocker links generally work best but not always.

Big problem these days is that people have a very hard time distinguishing between the legal and illegal sites. Paypal and most major credit card companies seemed to have no qualms about processing payments for these illegal sites.

Personally, I think you should kill this thread as it's more than likely just going to become an exchange of illegal site addresses.

The wife loves the popcorn site - it helper her catch up on some shows that netflix only had certain seasons of before watching the new episodes on tv.

The drawback I see is that she hasnt figured out a way to chromecast it yet, which keeps me away since I must be able to play on my phone and computer while watching tv.

According to an article I read, it has exploded in use, and activity on other major torrent websites has dropped. I can only assume this is a website that a lot of people out there wants to shut down.

    • Day 430 - 2025-12-04 Slow motion backswings (with chippy shots) with AlmostGolf balls.
    • Day 24 (4 Dec 25) - Spent about an hour working with the new 55° wedge in the backyard.  Kept all shots to under 20yds.  Big focus - not decelerating thru downswing and keeping speed up with abbreviated backswing.  Nothing like hitting a low flighted chip with plenty of check spin and then purpose to float a pitch of similar distance.
    • Day 114 12-4 Put some work in on backswing, moving the hips correctly, then feeling over to lead side. Didn't hit any balls was just focused on keeping flowy and moving better. I'll probably do another session tonight and add in some foam balls.
    • Didn't say anything about your understanding in my post.  Well, if you are not insisting on alignment with logic of the WHS, then no.  Try me/us. What do you want from us then?? You are not making sense. You come here and post in an open forum, question a system that is constructed with logic, without using any of your own and then give us a small window of your personal experience to support your narrative which at first sight does not makes sense.  I mean, if you are a point of swearing then I would suggest you cut your losses and humor a more gullible audience elsewhere. Good heavens.
