I played with a gentleman last year who used this grip for all shots driver down to wedge.  I never asked him why.  He didn't hit it any straighter than anyone else.  Looked painfully awkward.

If we can learn anything from this it's that no one is a robot and we shouldn't expect to swing like them.  Golf is awkward.  It just so happens we can get our bodies to do it, amazingly.
