I had a hole in one Thursday, my first ever.
I sank a 6-iron shot on the 166-yd. No. 4 hole of the Hawthorn nine* in Forest Park. I didn't have a tee, and rather than walk back to the cart I fluffed up a tuft of grass, set the ball on it, and hit a high straight shot that was on the stick all the way. It hit on the front of the green, and released forward about 12 feet into the cup.
At first I thought it had stopped just short, but my brother Sam said it went in. Turned out it had rolled over a white paint-spray dot on the green on its way to the hole. Sam looked in the cup, and told me to take my ball out so the others could putt.
The shot came with my reshafted X20 Tours - I swapped PX for NS Pro 8950GH shafts a few weeks ago. This causes me some confusion, because I also like the SLDR irons I tested out for my TST review. Which set to play?
*We had started out on the Dogwood nine.
(Historic note: Sam got us started playing golf back about 1964, when he traded our last functional tricycle to the trash man for a bag of mixed clubs hanging on the truck.)
