I don’t know the stats but I’m not sure it was necessarily good golf. He certainly placed better than he has and he did much better on his last two weekend rounds than he has for quite some time. But damn....he’s not gonna keep going with his awful tee shots. I felt like he was constantly scrambling. Bunker, rough, bunker,  rough damn near every hole. He can’t rely on 30’ putts and chip ins or hole outs for eagles on par 4’s.

It seems like his swing is coming around since his little check with Butch Harmon.

He’s doing his OTT rehearsals and has piped drives on tough holes.

I think he is on his way back

He was 39th in Strokes Gained: OTT. 10th in SG: Approach, which is not good enough to win when you've holed out two approach shots during the week. He's on the right track, but he's not going to be "back" until he wins. I haven't been this encouraged by his play for a long time now.

All that said, it was a weak field. Outside of Berger, Cantlay, and maybe Paul Casey, there wasn't much firepower at the top of the leaderboard.

He channeled his inner Els for the putting and Sergio for the green damage.

It was funny too...the announcers had just recently commented how despite him being in a high pressure spot he’s really keeping his cool.....lol.

He has always been hit or miss with his driver, but watching him lately, his iron play is getting back into form and I think Jordan is going to grab a win a one of the bigger tournaments like this week at the Players or Augusta National.

AUSTIN — On Monday, Ryan Lavner at GolfChannel.com reported that Jordan Spieth suffered a bone chip in his left hand in early 2018, likely sustained while weightliting, and that the injury plays a big part in explaining his shocking fall down the World Ranking through the rest of that year, culminating in a low point where he refused to touch his clubs for weeks at the end of 2020. His decision to play through pain rather than undergoing arthroscopic injury is one he now regrets, as it forced him to use a weaker grip and resist important swing changes pushed by his coach Cameron McCormick.

Hmmmmm.

He’ll have a 12 stroke lead and then put 6 balls in the water on 12.

I actually wish him well. He seems close. 12 has to give him nightmares though.

Pulling so hard for Jordan today. Watching back 9 at Valero yesterday was the most fun I've had watching golf in a while.

It’d be great for Jordan to win prior to The Masters. But having a strong Sunday even if he doesn’t win will surely make his Master’s mindset even better. I’m pulling for ole ‘milk and cookies’ and hope he can keep the improvements going.

    • Probably since the golfer has to swing the club back and up. The hands have to move back and up. You can feel them go back and up just by turning the shoulders and bending the right arm, because it brings your hands towards your right shoulder.  The difference is if you maintain width or not. Less width means a shorter feeling swing path so the more you need to lift the arms. Being as someone who gets the right arm bend at 110+ degrees, it's 100% a timing issue. I am use to like a 1.5+ second backswing. It probably should be like 1 second at most. Half a second or more will feel like an eternity. I have had swings where I keep my right arm straighter and I am still trying to time the downswing based on the old tempo.  Ideally, for me, it is probably going to be a much quicker and shorter (in duration) backswing, while keeping the right elbow straighter. Which also means more hinging to get swing length without over swinging.

    • I'm currently recuperating from surgery, so no golf, but have been thinking about this quite a bit. This and the don't overbend the right arm thing. It's hard for me to even pose the position, so I'm not 100% sure, but I feel like it's impossible to have the right humerus along the shirt seam and not overbend your right arm, unless your hands are down near your hips. If the left arm is up at or above the shoulder plane and your right arm is bent less than 90 degrees, then your right humerus has to raise or your hands will get pulled apart. Your left hand can't reach your right hand unless either the right upper arm is up or the right arm is overbent. Is that right? If it is, then focusing on not overbending the right arm would force you to raise the humerus. And actually thinking further on it, if you do overbend your right arm, then you're basically forcing your upper arm down or forcing your left arm to bend. Since (for me at least) bending the left arm too much is not something I think I need to worry about, it means that the bend in the trail arm is really the driving force behind what happens to the right humerus.
    • I managed to knock off a 3, a 13, and a 15 a couple of weeks ago. The 3 was a 185 yard par 3 with a 6 iron to 12 feet. 13 was a 350 yard par 4, which was a 2 iron and a 9 iron to about a foot. 15 was a 560 yard par 5 with a driver in a bunker, 4 iron into the semi, gap wedge to 8 feet and a putt.
