The Irish Open starts tomorrow at Lahinch, one of my favorite golf courses. Lahinch is a quirky track that dates back to the 19th century. It is not long, so I wonder what the best players in the world will score there.

I've got the DVR set to record the first round tonight/tomorrow morning. Looking forward to it.

Reason alone why I love GolfChannel, EuropeanPGA and the beautiful countryside scenes from these tourneys.  not to mention the great waking up tv.

Best players in the world are not playing. A quick look makes it only 3 out of the top 20 owgr.

Played this morning, and watching the recording now. Looks like a great course. Wish we had courses like that in the USA.

The course looks great. Maybe this tournament will provide better entertainment than of late. I’m pretty bored with the birdie fest run of tournaments we’ve been seeing. And now at the 3M one of the most boring players is -8 for the first round? Zzzzzzzzzzzzz.

Sounds a lot like the scoring for the US Open.

Hopefully we get wind at the Open. Need a challenge.

Totally agree. I hope mother nature just unleashes pure hell on ‘em..lol. I guess some like the birdie fest tournaments. I’ve never been a fan. I much prefer watching the best in the world be extremely challenged.

A nice golf trip in southwest Ireland would be a trip to courses like Tralee, Ballybunion, Dooks, Waterville and Old Head. Lahinch is a little north of that and a bit out of the way, but would be worth the effort. We made a day out of it, playing Lahinch in the morning and going to see the Cliffs of Moher in the afternoon, just up the road. Spectacular. We stayed in Ennis that night, full of pubs where they play traditional Irish music well into the night.

Lahinch is where we found out how big surfing is in Ireland. You will see a lot of people surfing at Portrush as well in a couple of weeks.

No wind on the west coast of Ireland means low scores at Lahinch. Robert Rock with a 60 but the leaders are stuck in neutral.

Every now and then a professional hits a shot that I am perfectly capable of hitting on my own.  Rafa Cabrera-Bello hit an 8-iron short of a bunker and then, trying to pitch over it, duffed it into the bunker. :-(  We've all been there.

Love watching Robert Rock.  I've seen a few of his videos, some through evolvr lessons, so it's neat to see him playing.

    • I know you guys were discussing this like a year ago. But, ironically I just had this discussion with my brother-in-law. We literally just did one of these. I'd always used the "Slow-Cook, Rest, and Sear" Method. But my bother-in-law was convinced the "5-Min/lb, 500 degree" method was the way. So, we gave it a go. I have to say it came out great.  I have a 25 year old, electric oven, GE brand... Not sure if that matters, but it came out great. ... Of course we stressed that nobody was to open the oven.   I don't make these all that often so, I'm not sure if I can fully recommend one method or the other, because without doing a Pepsi Challenge, I'd say both ways come out great. 👍😁👍
