Bobby Layne curse.  It's real.   A coach calls a timeout and the first down they would have had was negated.   That first down would have cemented the win.   It doesn't matter who is coaching or playing, the Lions are just terrible.

The Bobby Layne curse was supposed to expire after 50 years.  Cans of Spam don't last this long.

Well...there's Spam, egg, sausage and Spam.  That's not got much Spam in it.

Well the Giants had a great start to their season.

Three and out on defense followed by a touchdown on the offensive drive. Good stuff.

Well, my gambit with the quarterbacks really backfired. Felt good about it after the Bears held Rodgers to 12.9 points on Thursday. Then Winston goes out and throws 3 picks and scores a miserable 7.1. Worse than that, WR1 was Mike Evans and he's apparently still too banged up to get more than 2 receptions on 5 targets.

Then there was that absolute catastrophe of a performance by Jacksonville's D. Yeah, I know that was the Chiefs, but that was not a professional display. Going to need to consider alternatives.

Only my RBs keep me from losing this week.

It isn't often that the Lions (my home town side) make it this far into the season undefeated.

Funny, I was thinking of saying that about the Cardinals (minus the part about hometown).

Did anybody see the end of the Houston vs. New Orleans game?  OMG.  3 lead changes within about 90 seconds!  the game included a missed extra point that wasn't and a personal best distance field goal.   It was exciting!

Yep. Pretty crazy.

Funny how often Deshaun Watson and the Texans seem to end up on the wrong side of these. Lots of real tight games for those guys over last few years only to go sideways at the last second. Speaking of Watson, he's still getting hammered back there. Texans were supposed to have an improved OL.

Brees and that Lutz guy pretty much killed my brother. Just as well. Let him go to bed before that Jacobs guy scored two against the Broncos to make his Week One a no doubter.

My goodness. I shudder to think how close was I to drafting that mental patient Antonio Brown.

So after all that, a rape allegation.

Have fun New England.

But… this is also just a civil lawsuit. Not a criminal one.

Yes. However, the NFL has its own highly unpredictable methods of investigating and punishing misconduct regardless of a criminal charge.

 Take Ezekiel Elliot for instance.

Huge night for a bloody Thursday night game (which they should do away with for many reasons).

RB1 - McCafferey, WR1 - Evans.

On pins and needles for TB to show some life after that awful game against SF last week.

This has to be a 35 point game for me.

Not good. 17.4. It is all sort of a bad blur right now.

Stunned that Carolina couldn't do more than that with McCafferey. From 42 points in Week One to 7.3 last night against Tampa Bay. I guess you got to give Boles and the Bucs D a lot of credit for forcing Cam to throw down field. Really didn't see that coming.

It's also becoming pretty clear that Godwin is TB's top receiver, not Evans.

Thought I might have an easy week against the weakest lineup in the league, but I'm in a heck of a hole now.

    • A couple of weeks ago, as I was getting ready to tee off on #14 which runs perpendicular to #18 (with that green next to the 14th tee box), I see a couple pushing a stroller, a grandma (I presumed) with a very small infant, perhaps 2-3 months old in the stroller, taking a leasury walk on the cart path behind #18 and heading towards the 18th tee, stopping and walking onto the middle of that fairway, taking pictures, selfies and whatnot, like it's a nice day at the park.... all while golfers are hitting their shots and coming straight at them! I ran towards them and yelled to get off the course and that they are putting the baby in danger, that they don't understand golf at all, that it could kill them or the baby. They don't seem to understand and they speak no english at all. I finally call them crazy with the international sign of making a circle around one's temple and they look at me like I am the devil. I make more gestures and loud noises about them getting off the course, and finally they comply, and head back towards the club house on the cart path, where they came from.  And I call the pro-shop too to make them know and make sure they are leaving the course. These people had absolutely no clue, whatsoever, thinking a golf course is just like a park! SMH.
    • Your post largely reflects how I used parts of JV's method to improve my game now that I don't play 3 times weekly.  My ball flight has turned to a slight fade as a result of the changes I incorporated into JV's method (take the club back a little outside, hold the shoulders shut with a steady head position but not being afraid to let the shoulders turn a little on backswing).  For me the changes I made make the whole process seem less unnatural after years of using a swing more like the ones taught by most Pro's.  As you say, I now stand on our island hole and swing away with complete confidence.
    • Great post, i'm another with a fast swing speed but a high handicap. I tire of people telling me to slow down my swing(you tried to murder that one) when i hit a bad drive but tell me great drive when it goes straight down the fairway.  I don't try to swing hard, its just the speed i swing. Hitting the center of the clubface is a different story, I can carry a drive 280+ but my average drive is 250-260 because of all the bad ones.  I was playing with a couple of older guys for the first time recently, I parred the first three holes and had two cracking drives, one of the guys said "you wont be off 16 for long with your distance" Two disaster holes followed with two balls into a water hazard, and then some duffed chips etc, and i said to the guy "now do you see why i'm off 16" he laughed and said "ah you have a few things you need to work on alright" Moral of the story, fast swing speed does not always mean low handicap
    • Learn to hit a partial PW just like you have learned to hit a partial 9 iron.  For me, gripping down halfway (about 3 inches), ball position about 1-2 ball widths back from normal, and the feeling of a 3/4 swing with a held off finish results in pretty much exactly 20 yards less of distance with a lower trajectory across every club I have tried it with so far (7 iron through sand wedge) aka I followed what was said here:
