Tuning in (and catching up on this thread).  Course looks nice, but not like the Augusta we all know and love.  First glance, it looks like a very nice course with Augusta's layout.  Either way, as promised when they announced it, I have planned my week around watching this, as I try to do every Masters (and am more successful for the last one, for this one, and I think I'll be for the next one).

Uhhhhh....you can't see what Lee Elder "accomplished"?

And then you say you don't like the guy but instead you like an absolute dick like Tom Watson?

I absolutely think Lee Elder should be recognized by ANGC, but I think this is the wrong way to do it.  His outstanding achievement was persistence and endurance in the face of discrimination and hate, not his play.  He was a good player, but by no means outstanding.  In a sense, putting him in the honorary starters, almost demeans him, because of all of the starters he is the only one who didn't get there because of his play - it makes it look like tokenism.  A more permanent recognition, like a plaque or statute would be a better fit, IMO.  And would live on as long as ANGC does.

But then again, what the hell do I know?

No commercials, no piped in bird sounds, no endless prattle from commentators. No patrons means you really get to see the golf course.

It's a great way to watch golf.

Nice to see Tiger playing well too.

Nice of Lee Westwood to mark where the ball crossed the hazard, since whoever hit it (I missed that) wouldn't have seen it and it almost hit him.  I've never seen someone hit into #16 pond from #15 before.   I think that's the closest I've ever see to a tour pro getting hit by an errant ball during a round.   Someone please tell me if there's an obvious case I'm forgetting.

Nice to see Kokrak channelling his inner Bubba with a massively audible “Mudball!” as he guns it through the back of 15. Nice professional work by Westwood to make sure his caddy didn’t get in the way and then mark the spot with a tee.😎

Tiger just made his first par on #5 since 2018.

So I'm watching the webcast, but on mute, so I don't know if this has been talked about on air.
By my quick estimation the late groups going off after 3pm might get in 9-10 holes, which means tomorrow's groups will have to go off late and likely we are looking at a Saturday finish to the 2nd round.
Was the plan to go off #1 & #10 on Saturday and Sunday? because that is what it looks like it might take to play this thing in the daylight

Tiger just took his chewing gum out of his mouth and chucked it into the grass. Seriously?

Just my luck.  I'll step on it next week when I'm playing there.

I love how you can choose a person and watch his whole round on the website. Just the shots. No commentary.

Wait, I take that back, not every shot is available.

Maybe I’m the only one, but I really miss the crowds.  Just not as exciting.

It’s like playing craps in a casino by yourself versus playing at a crowded table.  The results are ultimately the same, but the dynamic just isn’t as much fun.

I'm thinking you rather liked the crowds during the finals of the billiards tournament.

If Tiger wins, he should just retire on the spot. Major 16 (slash 19) and win 83? Would be incredible.

You're not alone. It's rather boring without the crowds. I'm sure there will be one person out there this week that yells, "Get in the hole!"

There's commentators for the second bunch of featured groups. Kind of ruining the vibe after watching the first groups with just ambient noises of Augusta National.

    • Hello Golfing Buddies, It has been awhile since I posted but I am the Retired Old Man that asked for advice because I suffered two "T.I.A.'s about switching from playing right handed to playing left handed.  I purchased a Callaway Edge Left handed golf clubs. I changed the grips to oversize grips.  Well, two weeks ago and still at 79 years old, I shot a 44 and 47 on a small course in my hometown.  I am currently changing my shafts from regular flex to Senior flex.  So, you can see' it can be done! So, you other old timers; get with the program! Blessings to all of you. Retired Old Man (Terry Warner)

    • Probably since the golfer has to swing the club back and up. The hands have to move back and up. You can feel them go back and up just by turning the shoulders and bending the right arm, because it brings your hands towards your right shoulder.  The difference is if you maintain width or not. Less width means a shorter feeling swing path so the more you need to lift the arms. Being as someone who gets the right arm bend at 110+ degrees, it's 100% a timing issue. I am use to like a 1.5+ second backswing. It probably should be like 1 second at most. Half a second or more will feel like an eternity. I have had swings where I keep my right arm straighter and I am still trying to time the downswing based on the old tempo.  Ideally, for me, it is probably going to be a much quicker and shorter (in duration) backswing, while keeping the right elbow straighter. Which also means more hinging to get swing length without over swinging.

    • I'm currently recuperating from surgery, so no golf, but have been thinking about this quite a bit. This and the don't overbend the right arm thing. It's hard for me to even pose the position, so I'm not 100% sure, but I feel like it's impossible to have the right humerus along the shirt seam and not overbend your right arm, unless your hands are down near your hips. If the left arm is up at or above the shoulder plane and your right arm is bent less than 90 degrees, then your right humerus has to raise or your hands will get pulled apart. Your left hand can't reach your right hand unless either the right upper arm is up or the right arm is overbent. Is that right? If it is, then focusing on not overbending the right arm would force you to raise the humerus. And actually thinking further on it, if you do overbend your right arm, then you're basically forcing your upper arm down or forcing your left arm to bend. Since (for me at least) bending the left arm too much is not something I think I need to worry about, it means that the bend in the trail arm is really the driving force behind what happens to the right humerus.
