Dumb comparison. Makes golfers look stupid. Please, everyone, stop comparing golf to getting food.

I understand not doing it though, it would just encourage people from infected counties to travel to the rural areas to golf.

Make it available only to members or yearly season pass holders.

golf is not essential, at all

It is as essential and safer as/than walking in the park.

It is technically available in my area, but in reality...no.

There is no tee times available anywhere that is open!  It seems everyone is itching to get out and play.  This is worse than the height of peak season.  Checked everywhere within 90 mile radius, and there is not a single tee time available!

I don't know how my buddy managed to get yesterday's tee time. We were thinking of playing again next week, and ZIP!  Nada!

Governor Tom Wolf clearly does not understand golf OR fishing (the fishing season opened up two weeks EARLY recently).

And yeah, southeastern PA is a hot spot. It's Philly, right near NYC. What a lousy answer.

And trust me, I have fished for PLENTY of trout in my day.

Now that Pennsylvania has permitted trout season to open, the state's golfers can legitimately ask: "What about us?"

In the news release announcing the move, the state also offered up another reason.

“Outdoor recreational activities, including fishing, lift our spirits and help relieve stress,” said Cindy Adams, the secretary for the Department of Conservation and Natural Resources.

No Michigan golfers allowed; Toledo opens municipal courses but only to Ohio residents

This is an article on MLive online newspaper.   It doesn't look like that state down south wants any of us Michiganders!   (can't say I blame 'em currently).

The findings should not discourage people from exercising, but steering clear of other exercisers makes sense, because people spread the virus before developing symptoms, researchers say.

It's almost like going to a speakeasy.  There's a course near me (a very good one) that's secretly open... all on the hush hush.  You just show up and play, for free.  I told Olivia on the phone that I wanted to pay something but she wouldn't let me.  So I'll go back at some point and buy some gear, and thank them.  So I played there today after 3 weeks and 4 days of no golf.  Sunny, almost 70 degrees, perfect!

If they were only getting food I would agree with you. Look in the carts next time you see a video. We are getting mixed messages here. Get out and walk, get your exercise. But beaches and nature trails are closed. Masks wont help, now all of a sudden they will. Flailing around in the dark makes our leadership look stupid.

We haven't been allowed golf for a few weeks and our lockdown has officially been extended to May 5th at the earliest as of yesterday. I fully expect it to be extended beyond that too. Really missing golf

I honestly think the message in every country about masks not helping was so as not to create a shortage for healthcare workers. Which is understandable

It doesn't matter. Comparing golf to going to the grocery store makes you look stupid. They're not going to close grocery stores because golf courses are closed, nor are they going to open golf courses because grocery stores are open. You're literally comparing apples and golf balls.

Beaches and trails aren't closed everywhere. They're open here in Erie.

Of course they help, but they had to limit a run on them so the actual health care workers — those who need them most — could get theirs.

Please also remember, no politics.

P.S. Man, there are some awfully f***ed up conspiracy theories out there.

Yeah a lot of conspiracy theories... that’s what you get people sit around with time on their hands I guess.

Grocery store... we decided last time to buy enough food to last a couple weeks to minimize going.  There’s a whole new level of “stupid” with some people at a grocery store and the people operating them.  That’s a whole separate thread.

Golf... we’re closed in Massachusetts.  There could be a ton of rules put in place to be open.  It wouldn’t be “real golf” but it’d be good for people I think.  A Marshall would have to be out all day though to prevent stupidity.  Thoughts that went through my mind we’re walking, singles only, no holes in the green and no using tees.  Move tee markers away from tee boxes.

I went out where I work with just a 7 iron and 2 balls.  Didn’t use a tee and once I got on the green I didn’t putt out.  So nice to do that.  My wife the next day even said “you’re in a better mood after getting to the course.”
