Tom Brady has stepped up his golf game ahead of the latest edition of The Match this week, and he has Charles Barkley to thank for it.

After hearing the former NBA star rip his game both at the last version of The Match that he played in and last week, Brady knew he had to get it together.

After all, do you really want Barkley of all people bashing your golf game?

“I hope he starts talking trash on the practice range, because that definitely lit a fire under me,” Brady said Monday, via GolfDigest. “Any time your golf swing gets insulted by Charles, you gotta take that to heart. I had a lot of insults, this was probably one of the worst insults I could imagine: Charles Barkley insulting my golf swing.”

LOL, the saga continues...

I don't know crap about AR other than that discount double take thing. I'm curious as to why you think he's a D-bag. I'm not defending him. I seriously don't know anything about the guy. I'm not a Green Bay fan so I never really cared.

The thing about Rodgers is that he holds grudges more tightly than nearly anyone. There is still a lot of mystery about what precisely his beef is, but for someone in his relative position, people don't sympathize.

Rodgers shares just as much of the blame as McCarthy for the lull of the last year or two. Shame on both of them and shame on Packers front office for sitting around with their thumbs up their ass while it went down. I think Bleacher Report has set the record straight since sites like this one has laid into McCarthy while blowing Rodgers all the time. Rodgers is an employee. Not a f***ing hero. He is an employee of the Green Bay Packers and needs to do what he is told. Period.

Was Green Bay in disarray under McCarthy even though many on the team still respected Rodgers? Absolutely. Does this give Rodgers a free pass to rebel and undermine his authority? No. No, it doesn’t. It also makes it really obvious he is a career athlete and has never worked a real job in his adult life. His spoiled brat naivete really showed through with the McCarthy drama.

Totally this.

They need to have the guy sweep the sidewalks outside Lambeau Field.

Good summary. Thanks.

I haven't been following this particular little soap opera.

My bag is an ever-changing combination of clubs.

A mix I am forever tinkering with.

Watching the pre-game show.  This is going to be a great broadcast.  Announcing crew includes Cheyenne Woods, Sir Charles, and Larry.  I saw Larry's a 9 handicap?  I thought for sure he'd be better, but then again, he probably doesn't play during football season (which ends too soon for him most years).

Hole 1 commentary:  Bryson shows what he thinks of Aaron's putting ability with their third shot.  But did he give Phil, his opponent, advice between holes?

Also AT&T reusing their "Lily with a putter" ad again. ❤️

The trash talk feels quite forced. Bryson is NOT good at it.

Pars tie the second hole.

392 yard 3W from Bryson to 20 feet on 3.

And Brady matches him!

To everyone rooting for Bryson/Aaron, I apologize for giving them a putting lesson.  Great drive/approach and very poor putting, reminds me a lot of my game.

Did Bryson just ask how an unplayable works?  He should know that sort of thing.  Maybe I misheard the voice and it was Aaron asking if he can drop in the fairway.

How expensive is it to get custom-fitted for a putter?  Tom might want to ask his wife for some money (IIRC, she's the big earner of the family) to get one that isn't too big for him.  Of course, I was thinking this as he made a birdie putt to win a hole, so what do I know.

Lily's commercial again!  One of the most endearing ad campaigns on TV these days.

Brady with the best line of the day.

“We got Aaron Rodgers here. One of the best in the game and the leader of the Packers….. I think.”

That one actually had me laughing out loud.

    • Welp, 2025 has started off great (sarcasm).  Lingering cough since Jan. 3rd-ish. Now, I was bowling in a tournament this morning, and felt like two cracks / pops in my back near my hip.  Luckily not sudden pain or what not, but my lower back is not happy. It was the weirdest sensation, and  then not feeling the pain I thought would happen. Still, I think I hurt my back in some way. Going into rehab mode now. 😹
    • I had to get my left labrum reconstructed after my second major dislocation a few years back. Recovery for me was 5 months until I could swing. I played at 6 months though infrequently. Maybe 8-9 months didn't feel dicey. Then I had winter and the next season... Wow. I hadn't known how much worse my mechanics were than they could be because I was subconsciously tightening my front should to protect it. Even before the second dislocation it was loose and sloppy. Who knew tightening up and good golf mechanics didn't go great together 😀 I don't know what surgery you're getting, but maybe a potential bright spot for you?
