Not everyone likes the Clicgear, myself included. They are very well constructed but they feel like tanks instead of sports cars. Someone mentioned the maneuverability and I agree. The weight is irrelevant, it's more of a feel thing. Don't take it personally.

But if we’re constantly in bunkers, shouldn’t we have tanks!😜 Personal preference is key with all golf equipment. I’ve had Sun Mountain, Clicgear and others. They’re all a bit different. Quality construction and personal feel are the most important factors.

They're built like tanks, right. They last, and last, and last…

Sports cars break down all the time.

Also, the listed sizes on the site are…

  • The ClicGear 4.0 is 21 pounds and folds down to 13" x 15" x 24".
  • The ClicGear Rovic 17 pounds and folds down to 13" x 15" x 24".

Here's one of the selling points:

I dragged the family out last night to go look at push carts. Here's an interesting data point. They had a pair of refurbished CaddyTek carts for a really good price. (But not the style and color I wanted.) I asked the guy if they had any refurbished ClicGear carts. His quote "Oh we never get refurbished ClicGear carts. Once and a while a Sun Mountain, but never a ClicGear." Apparently they just don't fail, so there just aren't any to refurbish.

That's from the other topic, of course. You can click through to it. I linked to it earlier.

Personally I quite like my BagBoy Nitron for the main reason of me being lazy and wanting a push cart that's quick/easy to setup and takedown in the parking lot before and after rounds. The Nitron can be unfolded or re-folded in less than 5 seconds, and so far for me (over two years of use) has proven to be plenty durable. The only things I wish were different really would be slightly larger wheels like the Clicgear (makes pushing a bit easier) and perhaps a little bit larger diameter for the cupholder.

@Pretzel thanks for reminding me. I need to order the XL beverage holder for my Rovic.

If it hasn't been mentioned yet, TheGolfWarehouse (TGW) has a branded cart that i've had for 4 seasons of 2-4 walking rounds per week and its held up well.  I have the 4 wheel version.

My new Sun Mountain Speedcart GX arrived today.  First impression, it’s nice, rolls around well, easy to put up and takedown.  Seems to have a little more plastic than my old Micro Cart, but still seems like really good quality.  It definitely rolls better than my old cart, but I think the one downfall is the bag seems to lay a little flatter (bag is a tad more upright on the old cart).  I’ll also state it seems it’ll be more stable (the positive from being less upright I guess).

Pretty sure I’m going to be happy with it, and be fine with the trade offs between the two.  I’ll share if any major disappointment arises after a few rounds.

Although not really a push/pull cart, I went with the Mack daddy of electric carts, bought the Stewart Golf Q Follow.

I own a clicgear 3.5 as well for a few years and am really happy with it.. friends had other brands and they broke over time (partly their own fault), and they moved to the CG as well and like them since.. I did buy some of the accessories and especially when playing in winter or rain, the wheel-cover can be really handy to not get your car dirty..

Here is a pic, the other one was too big to upload.  One thing I found odd, the strap to hold the umbrella next to the cart is a tad too small.  So I had to just put it in the umbrella holder on the handle the whole time.  I’ll put a bigger strap on there at some point.  Other than that, the cart was great and fits the new bag much better.  Lying flatter was no problem either, just had to organize my clubs a different way and it is fine.

Agree on TGW. I admit the Clic looks great but I could not pull the trigger on the price. I found a TGW Tour Pro for a bit less than $150 on sale that is apparently a knockoff of another known name. Has worked great into year 3 playing in all conditions at least 2-3 times a week.

Sooo… update.  I’ve been using the Speedcart GX about 2 months now, and there are a couple things I’ve noticed with the cart that I’m not thrilled about.  I’ve been paying really close attention to the differences in this cart and my friend’s Clicgear 3.5… and ultimately wound up with a Clicgear 4.0 for Father’s Day.

- Speedcart falls backwards pretty easily when going up hill.  If I let it run free a little, when it comes to an upslope it falls backwards onto the ground.  And not with a ton a speed either.  This didn’t happen with my MicroCart.  I frequently use an umbrella, so it does of course add weight to that side of the cart.  But… for me the resolve of not using an umbrella doesn’t work (I need the relief from the sun).  And I’m not going to add a 5lb weight to the front of the cart either.

- the umbrella holder on the Speedcart constantly comes loose.  The thread is no longer built into the handle, it goes through the handle and can be removed.  I guess the benefit is you can replace it easily if it becomes stripped (which didn’t happen in all the years with my MicroCart), which is good.  But a giant pain in the rear to bring a screwdriver with you in order to tighten it throughout the round.  No issues with the Clicgear umbrella holder coming loose.

- adjusting the handle height down on the Speedcart, it adjusts the entire base of the cart.  With the Clicgear you can adjust only the handle and it doesn’t impact the rest of the cart.

- the top bag rest of the Speedcart is not very adjustable.  Bags fit, but not as nicely as you’d want them to.  The top bag rest on the Clicgear 4.0 is very adjustable, I’m pretty impressed how much they put into it.  The Clicgear would definitely fit a much larger selection of bags.

Now for the initial thoughts on the Clicgear 4.0 that are maybe not as good as the Speedcart.  I will disclose I’ve only used the Clicgear one time, on Father’s Day, on a pretty flat course.

- the 4.0 is definitely heavier than the Speedcart.  That said, it’s not extreme and pushes through the grass just fine.  We’ll see how the weight shakes out on hillier terrain.

- the 4.0 put up and takedown isn’t quite as fast as the Speedcart.  But it’s still easy and quick once you get used to it.

- the 4.0 doesn’t seem as stable on side hills.  I have yet to see if there is the same issue as the Speedcart going up hill.

Initially, the Clicgear 4.0 has benefits over the Sun Mountain Speedcart GX.  After I get a couple more months in with the Clicgear, I’ll share any additional thoughts.  After one round, I do feel pretty good about it.

I would be interested in your thoughts now.  I am thinking about getting a push cart.

I just bought a Nitron.  It explodes open in one move, with its nitrogen-loaded easy open system.  Or is that nitrous oxide?  😄  It nicely fits my mantra of "Gone in 60 Seconds".  Out of the driver's seat, trunk open, cart out, bag onto cart, shoes on, shoes tied, trunk closed and I'm rolling away in under 60 seconds.

I do like that the cart has a quick latch for adjusting the handle, a hand brake and a well-placed cup holder to hold my Italian Sports Drink.

I only used the cart twice before the 90-100 degree days kicked in, and I  have been riding since.  The weather has cooled a bit this past week so I’m planning to be able to walk most of the remainder of the season.  I’ll follow up after getting a few more rounds in on the Clicgear 4.0

I've had this one for two years and have never looked back. It checks all the boxes.

    • The putting green itself is fine. It's the same green we have here. They just need to learn how to chip "into" the grain instead of just down-grain all the time. You have to hit it solid. The launch monitors and the simulator software are garbage right now. Nobody wants to say anything bad about the LMs because Tiger is a partial owner or something. The software has 3Ws stopping in ten feet on the green, and balls bouncing all of 11 yards after flying 311 in the fairways.
    • Explain this:   Send 3 and 4 pence we're going to a dance.
    • Although fun to watch on a winter night, I don't think the simulation is anywhere near accurate. Watched Kevin Kisner hit a shot onto a green slope that would not roll back. When they got to that spot, they couldn't place a ball there without it rolling down the hill. Had to move to another location. The greens remind me of the pooltable-like surface of a Mini Golf course. Balls just take off and roll away. Chipping from off the green seems tricky on the surface they use. And what's with Tiger spitting during the round? It's an indoor carpet. Don't know why atheletes need to spit outdoors, let alone on an indoor carpet surface.
    • Maybe this is what you were getting at?  Doing some math. Comparing JumboMax versus Tour Velvet, standard size in both.  I got the force required using the JumboMax grip, to achieve the same rotational acceleration as the Tour Velvet, is about 1.37 more for the JumboMax grip. Interestingly, the Jumbomax grip is about 17% larger than the Tour Velvet, and 17% lighter for the standard size. I just substituted out the radius and mass of the JumboMax as a ratio of the Tour Velvet's mass and radius. This allows me to cancel out the mass and radius and get a ratio for the force. If you need 100 (force units of your choice) to achieve a certain rotational acceleration, you will need 137 (force units of your choice).  There was another thread on the forum about offset, where it basically just delays closure by some stupidly small amount. A lot of fun math there.  Most golfers have to go from about 90 degrees open clubface at A4 to square at A7. So, having a grip that requires more force to close that clubface might not be the best idea pending the golf swing.  A question is, since the clubface is open at A4, and square at A7. Does that mean you want most of the closure to happen from A4 to let say A6, and not A6 to A7, for better consistently (less timing at impact). Just a thought.
    • This reminds me of the old game Telephone, where someone tells a story to someone, that person tells it to the next person, and after a few re-tellings you see how badly mangled the story gets.  Most golfers learn the rules in a similar fashion, learning from someone who really doesn't know the rules themselves.  This isn't really helped by the fact that many golf professionals aren't all that knowledgeable about the rules.  In addition, most golfers have been told that the Rules are SO complicated and SO difficult to read that they never try to read for themselves. Now, having vented a bit, is there anything in particular you'd like to read?
