Two people disagree, call me a thief, and accuse me of stealing.  I’ve never stole a thing in my life.

I'm so confused. You literally just admitted to stealing sauce from McDonalds.

A while back our local Mc Donald's was charging for extra sauces.   They have a cost and I'm sure it's not much but it is not ethical to decieve the company.  It's a good opportunity to teach the girls a life lesson.

Make the trip and take the girls with you.  Years later they will talk about your integrity.

I think this is a great comment by @dennyjones

I'm not holding my breath waiting for an apology (just poking at you a bit; not being super serious here) for saying that what you did is theft, @boil3rmak3r. Both of the lawyers I've asked about this have agreed.

Again, it's theft on a very small scale, and nobody will really care all that much. I imagine this whole topic didn't go as you had planned. Your wife was right.

It takes a big man to come back and admit that they were wrong about this. So, the ball is in your court.

P.S. It's 26-1. You are, of course, the 1. 27-1 if you count your wife's vote. 🤣

So, if I walk up to a person and lie by saying, "Hey, I lost my wallet and need gas, can I get $20 bucks?" That wouldn't be stealing?

That is known as panhandling and is done at truck stops 🤣

As a shareholder of McDonalds (NYSE:MCD) and Burger King (NYSE:QSR) I look at it a different way. You are stealing from me. I do not, nor ever will eat at McDonalds, nor Burger King but suckers and fat people do and I appreciate them for doing so when I receive my dividend payments. Loss prevention affects the bottom line. There is a pre-planned ratio for sauces for any give size of nuggets, its figured into the overhead, budget, inventory. When sauces are distributed above that pre-defined ratio it eats into the profit. A penny here, a penny there kind of thing. Please continue to visit Burger King on a regular basis I appreciate your business, but don't scam McDonalds out of the sauce.

Well, if you own both isn’t it s net zero to you? Any extra Penny in profits at BK since not distributing the sauce and  a Penny less at McD’s? 🤪

Two different companies, two different dividends I look at. I suppose you could look at it as a net zero thing, but I don't. I don't want a loss in either unless I'm looking for a buy point. They are both overvalued right now if one was wanting to buy either one. Not financial advice, just my opinion.

Title question is kinda dumb. It should really read, ‘ Is this Unethical?’ Despite the OP feeling it wasn’t unethical, it still hardly puts it into an ethical action.

What? Fast food is garbage food everyone knows that. I choose not to partake but I appreciate those that do. The more people that go to McDonald's and Burger King, the more money they make. The more money they make, the more their profits go up, hopefully. As profits go up, they can open more corporate owned locations, stock prices go up, the dividend payments go up, I get happy. Same goes for Starbucks, I don't go there but I encourage everyone else to visit them. I don't play any Titleist equipment (Acushnet), Nike, among others but people do and I take advantage of that. Pretty much everything you do in life is tied to a stock, if you don't own stock you are on the wrong side of the cash register. Now back on topic. :)

Before we get back on topic, if everyone would run out and buy some Under Armour products today that would help me out. 😁

Back on topic. Stealing is stealing. But of course there are degrees. In this case, I'm not suggesting jail time or anything like that. It would, however, be a great teaching moment. Kids notice things. "Dad thinks it's okay to be a little dishonest..."

Yes, it is.  But, that doesn't make anybody & everybody who partakes of their fare "suckers and fat people."  That there's what we call "virtue signalling."

My wife and I occasionally get lunch or dinner at a FF place and I'd put my general health and fitness up against anybody's even twenty years my junior.

My #1 favorite sportswear.  In fact there's a UA golf tee sitting in my Amazon shopping list over which I've been debating about pulling the trigger.  You're welcome :-)

Agreed.

Our guy is making a pretty big generalization and sounding quite pretentious in doing so.

Certainly a large part of what gets served at fast food restaurants is less than ideally healthy, but there are exceptions.  Anyone doing a bit of research can find reasonably decent alternatives at most restaurants. A lot of people that tend to consume fast food do so because their busy schedules don't give them the time to cook at home. Often, fast food places tend to be relatively inexpensive places to get a bite, I wouldn't call people "suckers" either.

Suckers might have been a harsh way of putting it, and no offense is meant. I only say that as fast food not really being real food, and one should not convince themselves that it is. It could be debated what is considered real food as far as their hamburger and chicken products go. Point is, people love fast food for whatever reason they choose, I could care less, what I care about is is the company making a profit and if so, is it trickling down to the shareholder? Now for Under Armour, they don't pay a dividend, its undervalued right now IMO, I'd look at swing trading it though maybe. Its was never on my radar but at a hair over 8 bucks a share I'll keep an eye on it.

It’s simple. You intentionally defrauded McDonalds out of sauce. Next time at least buy something from them.

The pool really depends on your values. People with the same values as yours ( value: is ok to steal or take unfair advantage when possible) are going  to vote ethical because they want to justify their bad behavior and feel better about themselves. People against your values is going to vote unethical because is the right thing to do (and probably are proud of been that way).

Of course there are going to be people that is in favor of stealing but don't want to let everyone know, so they are going to vote unethical despite thinking is totally ethical.

Of course I voted Ethical! 😄 Hahaha... ruin those mega food Empires!

    • Hi all. I have sought permission from admin to post this here. First, here's a quick link to my products on TST, which a few of the mods have been road-testing...  Most of you would be aware of the import tariffs imposed on importers to the US circa September last year. Prior to their introduction, I was selling a decent number each week into the 'States. Since the tariffs came in - which added ~AU$60 to the total cost of getting them over there - sales have dropped to virtually nil. I think fear of the tariffs is the biggest part rather than the actual cost increase, despite me declaring everywhere on my site that we pay the tariffs and have successfully got every order into the US without any problems since. What is still unknown to most US consumers is that these tariffs will DOUBLE in February as Australia Post will no longer be allowed to offer "private" rates, they all change to "commercial". I do indeed think that this will make the products uncompetitive to ship there. So what's the backstory?  I'm a small Aussie business, not some corporate juggernaut. I invented these products - not a reseller for someone else. The import tariffs double in February, so add another ~15% to the total cost. If you want StanceMate alone I can do a super deal on a run-out model PREVIEW HERE (note you cannot purchase this yet. I think the shipped price will be about AU$110 inc Shipping (tariffs included). If you want to reduce the cost of the whole Stryper Plus Bundle I can swap the runout StanceMate to reduce the overall price by AU$60. These work EXACTLY as the newer version, just not as premium quality in the way the finish is achievbed in production) IMPORTANT: All import tariffs are PRE-PAID at my end, and clears customs no problem. I've sent a half dozen since October with every one delivered. NB: I'm not here to get into the politics of the decisions on tariffs, so let's not go down that road. It is what it is! So StanceMate to your door in US - tariffs prepaid - about US$70 Bundle to your door in US - tariffs prepaid - US$240 Bundle (with version 1 StanceMate) to your door in US - tariffs prepaid - US$200 Cheers Corbs
