wow...this thread has been around since 2008.. These are my stock yardages with a twist...adjustable based on conditions of course.  Distance varies...........conditions are everything!!

How far do I hit each club?  It depends on the shot and course conditions. distances are for an "in control" stock swing depending on the course conditions............

60..........90-100yds

56.........100-120yds

51.........120-135yds

P...........135-145yds

9-..........145-155yds

8--.........155-170yds

7-..........170-180yds

6...........180-190yds

5...........190-210yds

4...........210-225yds

Rescue..225-245yds

3-wood...250-275yds

Driver.....275-300yds

On average....this is the best description of my club distances.......there is no 1 yardage......  IE....I may hit gap wedge 145 if the condition is ripe for it..just sayin'!!!

What's in Paul's Bag:
- Callaway Big Bertha Alpha Driver
- Big Bertha Alpha 815 3-wood

New swing, new yardages.  Don't know all of them, but I know three of them to within a few yards measured with handheld GPS on level shots with minimal wind for some older, traditional loft irons (using Taylormade Penta TP balls):

3-iron 240

8-iron 168

9-iron 155

Driver's a bit longer, but still pretty much somewhere in the nominal 285-305 ballpark.  Irons are low and smashed.

Seems to be:

60° = 60 yards

54° = 85 yards

PW = 110 yards

9I = 120 yards

8I = 130 yards

7I = 140 yards

6I = 150 yards

5I = 160 yards

4I = 170 yards

3H = 180 yards

5W = 180 yards

3W = 200 yards

Driver = 220 yards

These are the yardages I use for choosing clubs, but there's quite a bit of variation. I don't use the 5W very often, but it seems to fly about the same distance as my 3H, just much higher. The 3W is also a bit uncertain, the 200 yard figure probably includes some roll---it's hard to tell exactly where it lands. Finally, the driver number is probably an average of my good shots. It frequently comes up short of that, and occasionally reaches out to about 240 yards on a flat surface, and has gone as far as about 280 down a moderate slope.

In the bag:
FT-iQ 10° driver, FT 21° neutral 3H
T-Zoid Forged 15° 3W, MX-23 4-PW
Harmonized 52° GW, Tom Watson 56° SW, X-Forged Vintage 60° LW
White Hot XG #1 Putter, 33"

Well, I'm a club longer than last year so, here are my educated full swing estimates:

Driver: 250-300 (depends on the swing)

3 wood: 230-250

4 hybrid: 200-210 (220 tee'd up)

5 hybrid: 190-200

5 iron: 180-190

6 iron: 170-180

7 iron: 160-170

8 iron: 150-160

9 iron: 140-150

PW: 130-140

GW: 120-130

56: 90-100??? I usually don't take full swings with this club

I Think the exact same thing. Especially when 20 plus handicappers are hittin there 5 iron what i hit my 3 and they out drive me by 30 plus yards.  That must be cause mine is only 270 average but its in the fairway 60 percent of the time. Your carry distances are close to mine. I have you beat by about 10 yards on the longer clubs but our hanicap's are the exact same. lol.

I'm not saying everybody here is full of it, but seeing how many "300+ yard driving" 15 handicaps are on this board gives me pause to think there may be an epidemic of short hitters in Southern California.  It reminds me of a buddy of mine who frequently described the 290 yard bombs he was hitting off the tee...until we played together.  290 became 220 really quickly, when measured from the tee to where the ball came to rest.

Cheers!

You should go out and get an immunization shot then, as it appears you may be infected.  Hitting the long bomb =/= low handicap.

Cheers!

Based on the posers hacking it up at the AT&T; Pebble Beach ProAm, you're probably right, but the percentage of players all over the world who are members of any golf forum, let alone this one, leads me to believe the average poster is probably honest, but the postings in this thread are not exactly a random sampling of the golfing population. How many players we see in real life dribbling the ball off the tee are here posting their distances?
