That has to be the ultimate in non conforming golf clubs. What will the think of next? "Ball plugged in the bunker? no problem, get it out in a jiffy with the new Swingless golf C4 explosive sand wedge!"

Nobody copies Moe Normans swing because it was Moe Normans swing. Unless you have his particular god given sense of rhythm and hand eye coordination, you probably couldn't hit a golf ball like he did.

I agree, but many claim to teach the "true" Moe Norman swing. Graves golf and Kirk Junge being two. They often state this on their websites and videos. False advertising if nothing else.

Plus Norman adjusted his own clubs to fit his own, unique swing.

Lihu, I'm referring to his swing. It is a single plane swing.

There’s a lot more to what we call the “Moe Norman swing” than being kinda single plane.

Honestly,

I don't think you should ever copy Moe's swing.

Moe was different.

Are you even remotely close to Moe Norman?

That's like trying to copy Picasso.

Are you Picasso?

Have you lived like him?

Do you think like him?

Both were operating on levels so far above other professionals.

If you want to get good at golf, you're better off learning the fundamentals, practicing and playing on a regular basis.

Doesn't Graves claim that he is teaching Norman's swing with his blessing and that he was a protégé?  Not sure about Junge though. I think I have only watched his video once or twice.

Yeah Graves has pitched that line often. It’s the same old nonsense, ‘Learn the secret to effortless ball striking and be deadly accurate on every shot.’ Many pitch this ridiculous line to grab those hopefuls who want the magic solution. Golf is hard. It always was and always will be. There are no magic moves, no effortless swings, nor any secrets. There are the five keys one must achieve to consistently produce solid ball striking. How that is accomplished is done with hard work, talent and perseverance. And that’s that.

IIRC, Graves at one time was selling some weighted clubs that were replica's of those Noman used. He also had the heads bent quite strong.

I tried this for a while and I did make consistent contact, but I couldn't get enough distance. I need to have an easy short iron into the green from about 140 out, or else I really have no chance of scoring.

Well, not really. He sets up with a straight line through his club shaft and lead arm. But his bs is not on the same plane as his set up. I’m not very well educated on swing plane mechanics but he certainly doesn’t have a ‘single plane’ as far as my undertstanding of ‘single.’

There was another guy featured in Golf Digest a couple years back. Older, very stocky, set up quite aways behind the ball, square take away, very little knee bend, but not as in-line as Norman. I cannot remember his name, but perhaps a Swede. Jacob or something?

    • Day 13: 12/23/2024 A lot more mirror work today. Using my same swing thought. Some slow motion, some full motion, some in between. Today I made sure I took every swing all the way to the finish.
    • Day 234 (23 Dec 24) - Mystery Monday - what to do today….pretty straight up as I spent time with the 58 and a series of pitches (lower flighted all the way up to high fliers over the tulip tree).  Wrapped up the day going lower ball with the 9i and easy bump and runs.  Again as always the setup was key - case in point, got lazy and casually set up, feet straight and promptly hit a couple of nice heely shots hard right.  Knew it immediately, as next couple I went through the routine and flew the balls promptly too the target point.  Setup - setup - setup…
