Does anyone else besides me not really like IPAs?

I only really like dark beers. Stouts and the like.

I like those. IPAs are just TOO MUCH...not much nuance.

Yesterday, we went to a friends house to watch the Masters. They made the Azalea Cocktail. It was very good.

Ingredients:

1 1/2 ounces gin
2 ounces pineapple juice
1 ounce lemon juice
1 teaspoon grenadine
Lemon wedge, to garnish

These are my go to beers; Stouts, Bocks, and Porters. Though I do like some Belgian ales. I can enjoy a sweeter style IPA.

If only gin didn't give me headaches. I love gin. That sounds really good. What is your gin of choice?

You can make it with vodka too.

I am partial to Bombay.

I suppose gin gives it that extra flavor dimensions that the drink needs.

I’ve read that a 25% tariff on single malt Scotch and Irish whiskies goes into effect in a few days (October 18).

The Scottish Whisky Association said the United States is its largest single market and it is being unfairly targeted after a WTO ruling on Airbus.

Anyone going to buy a few bottles ahead? If so, which?

Or switch over to blends or American alternatives?

Nice!  I enjoy a nice single malt.

Have you ever tried Compass Box? While they are not a single malt they really make a very nice blend.  They are worth exploring

Haven’t tried it. Honestly, I find most blends to be a bit boring. Even some of the better ones.

I’ll keep an eye out for it though and give it a try if I run into the opportunity.

In the winter I continue to play golf, fortified with a flask of Laphroig.  But I can never get friends to sip it... they hate it... too salty, too peaty.  Though I once did get my caddie at Bandon Dunes to drink it.  Now that caddie had good taste!

Yep.  Lagavulin is another.  The Isle of Islay scotches are unique.  A lot of people don’t like the peat and astringent iodine.  Good stuff, but not a beginners whisky!   :-D

Laphroig is a wonderful dram 🙂

I like all the regions that produce single malt.  From the sultry seductive peaty to the refined sensual highlands.

I probably "enjoyed" far too many drinks last night. I guess that's what my body is telling me this morning. .

One of the youngsters who grew up with our girls, celebrated her 40th birthday last night.....at a Sushi Bar.

Whomever invented "Sake Bombs" was a great person. So is whoever invented "Aspirin" .

Some kind of red wine that's been sitting in the fridge half gone for a week.  Hate to pour it down the drain.  Probably cost me $10 for the bottle.

Best thing about being out of work other than golfing and crossfit everyday is being able to enjoy a drink every night.

    • Day 364: About an hour and a half practice session. Spent most of it at the range. Did a solid 30 minutes of work on my priority piece, with filming. I think it's improving, but will probably check in on Evolvr to make sure. Then spent the last ~20 minutes putting, working mostly on short putts.

    • Day 79 (19 July 25) - Band rehearsal this morning - got home midafternoon, opted to work more with the magnetic alignment tool with the wedges.  Used it to work on face position at the bottom of the swing arc - followed up with easy pitches up to 50yds.  Seeing better face control and over improved accuracy toward target…session was cut short with pop up rain showers.
    • This is a great discussion. Other parts of the course where there are houses have white stakes and signs. This keeps people from trespassing and hitting shots on their property. There is another county road on the east side of the course that does not have white stakes like the hole I described. I checked the score card and there is nothing to indicate these roadways are OB. I think a county drainage ditch would be considered government right-of-way so it is the peoples land 🤣. But you are in the power industry and know more about those sorts of things than me.
