I think Vikings represents the pinnacle of made for TV production - with all that goes into building the elaborate sets, boats, props, battle scenes, etc etc  ... it's pretty much unprecedented.    Loosely based on fact makes it even more engaging.   I can see why it took almost a year between seasons - it just takes so long to produce that level of awesome.      I challenge anyone who hasn't seen it to watch this current season trailer:  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UQm9torR1K8

Truth! It is an amazing show. Season 3 just started, already compelling 2 eps in.

It looked stupid, so I didn't watch it. Plus, I'd never heard of the guy, and since he's going to be the only real actor in it…

Can always pick it up later if the good reviews are sustained.

Fresh off the Boat is hilarious. It's getting killed, ratings wise. I'm a bit biased though as I know what it's like to be in the shoes of the starring family. Some of the situations I can totally relate to.

So… during the sucky years? I've never really watched SNL. I spent that time writing code or something…

Yeah, I really like Fresh Off The Boat.  The mom is the best.

Will Forte was a good, solid cast member.  And I'd say the recent years have been decent.

Every season has some good sketches and some bad, some great hosts and some lame ones.  Folks remember the classic sketches from the olden days, but there was dreck back then too.  The nice thing is that these days you can just go online and watch the good ones, skipping the sucky bits.

If you have kids in grade school, you probably may be watching Star Wars Rebels. It's animation, but very watchable for adults. Writing is very good. The animation is excellent. I think this is official Star Wars canon and a fun way to get psyched up for episode 7. I'm exposing my inner geek but watching TIE fighters fly in atmosphere was cool.

Disney does this, yes?

Top Gear, fave TV show by far. I heard they are finally showing the proper UK version in the states rather than the US version which i was told was a load of :poo:

I sat down and watched the first half of season one of Hannibal over the last two days. I set my expectations fairly low, and man were they blown away. It's pretty interesting how Will Graham is nearly as messed up as Lecter.

Ta Gordin - Israeli show NBC's Allegiance (cancelled) was based on. Only halfway in, great spy thriller. There are some similarities to The Americans, but it starts right away with son of married agents being "recruited" and much more briskly paced.

I thought Better Call Saul was going to be strictly a humorous show because of the main character played by Bob Odenkirk (who is still pretty funny), but it has just taken a very serious tack. I like it.

I was guessing Mike's story was dark, not much of a stretch given his character, and boy it was dark. I'm guessing at the end of this season there will be another teaser on present pastry cooking Saul. Update: What the Flick reviews the Mike episode:

Well, Suits is done for the season, and Banshee wrapped up series 3 tonight. I'm glad both are renewed for another year. Once I'm done with season two of Hannibal, it'll be time to get into Better Call Saul.

    • I know you guys were discussing this like a year ago. But, ironically I just had this discussion with my brother-in-law. We literally just did one of these. I'd always used the "Slow-Cook, Rest, and Sear" Method. But my bother-in-law was convinced the "5-Min/lb, 500 degree" method was the way. So, we gave it a go. I have to say it came out great.  I have a 25 year old, electric oven, GE brand... Not sure if that matters, but it came out great. ... Of course we stressed that nobody was to open the oven.   I don't make these all that often so, I'm not sure if I can fully recommend one method or the other, because without doing a Pepsi Challenge, I'd say both ways come out great. 👍😁👍
