6 over thru 9...thoughts? we can all agree that thru the front 9 so far it's certainly not his putter that's the only thing that's hurtin him...

Just saw Tiger come limping by me in the locker room. Considering he's supposed to be on the course I'm guessing that's not a good sign.....

He wasn't ready to go this week, simple as that. I was skeptical that he would recover enough in one week to miss Quail Hollow, but play at Sawgrass. We may see him at the Memorial, but more likely than not, Tiger's done until the US Open.

So confused hey. Did he go in the piss twice on the 4th? He hit like 1 green in regulation and seemed to be missing from like 120 yards or so.

i thought he played a round of 9 yesterday and was fine? He should of played more practice rounds to see if his knee would flair up instead of doing what he did; would of rather him found out on practice rounds then to withdraw

Oh, great! Tiger WD's and I was looking forward to seeing him play.

He tried to push himself, but his body wasn't ready to play.  I fail to see the controversy, but I'm sure the Tiger haters will be out in full force claiming he is the Anti-Christ for this....

Tiger has withdrawn with "an injury".  Right.  I have also called in sick today with "the flu".

Admit that you quit because you aren't playing well you big faker!!

The only thing separating Tiger from John Daly right now is the tearful parking lot interview where he quits golf (again).

he'll blame the knee but I think the injury is to his psyche. He has got the analytical side off his brain working rather than the "feel" side. it shows you can't play this game while "thinking" Thinking is done BEFORE the shot. Think at the wrong time and you will look like a hack, it will stop the swing mid swing. look at some of the shots he has hit this year, like a 20 handicapper(not meant to be an insult to any of you 20's) and before I get too flamed I am a Tiger fan. just sick off his BS! he needs to stop thinking and start drinking.

First, i'm just going to say that i'm niether a huge fan, and especially not a hater of TW. Second, lemme say this: CLEARLY you've never actually been injured yourself and tried to work through it. clearly YOU are the type of person who does as you've already said, and have faked a sickness to call out sick,...i do believe you are the 'faker' as you so put. he has a knee that's been through 3-4 surgeries now and has an achilles injury. btw, john daly was NEVER...the golfer tiger has been in his career. you're relating two completely different things. and oh by the way...whens' the last time you won a major championship with 'the flu' ;)

I don't want to be too judgmental here but this is a guy that won the US Open with a torn ligament.  So I have to believe that his logic was I am playing like crap so why chance anymore damage to the knee.  I guess the Player's isn't the US Open but it's not exactly just another tour stop either.  So I'm disappointed to not see him play but don't really blame him.  BTW I agree with Brandel Chamblee that Tiger made himself more injury prone with the body changes he made in the weight room.  For sure I think he had an ideal body to play golf when he first came up and so I was never sure why he wanted to change that.  You can get a lot stronger without gaining much bulk if you do it right. But I know not everyone agrees with this as Tiger is 6'1" and 185 Lbs. and while that isn't small it isn't huge either.

There is no controversy here.  Athletes in individual sports pull out of tournaments all the time when they know they can't compete or they might do long term damage by playing.

A lot of tennis players and track athletes, for example, pull out after just a few minutes of play. Some hockey players take the pregame skate then another guy takes hit place in the lineup. They know what's at stake and if they're going to be a liability on the ice they're encouraged to be honest and pull themselves. Nobody's calling guys like Patrice Bergeron or Johan Franzen fakers, are they? Speaking of hockey, if Joe Thornton had pulled himself out of the lineup in 2004 against Montreal when he tried to play with bruised/broken ribs (if you've ever had them you're cringing just thinking about it) he might not be a San Jose Shark right now. The media called his play soft and wouldn't let it go.

Unless you have had serious knee injuries, don't judge.     I can't imagine anything more frustrating at the pro level than trying to play through knee pain - I can tell you it takes all the fun out of golf as a rank amateur...

I can't believe there are actually people who say that Tiger is faking his injury, why should he?... How much hate do you have in you?

I hope he can recover until the US Open or better the Memorial.

    • Day 37, June 10.  Today was primarily WFH, so I had several practice sessions (indoors, off a mat, into the net).  At least one each of U, 9, and 6-iron full swings with the usual priority.   I also tried a few times a putting type stroke with my 4H, as something I should probably learn how to hit (and what it does), but the mechanical shot at home off a mat doesn't tell me much of what it's doing.  That's something I should probably try on a real green, not during a round until I've tried it.
    • Day 10 (10 Jun 26) - Played in the midweek shootout at my home course - on aerated and sanded greens - day of trying to figure tempo to get the best roll on the greens.  Approach game was decently solid as was shots off the tee.
    • Ok, I'm trying to find a feel to hit a consistent ball flight (irons).  My current predicament.  1. I try to do the arms down stuff better, with the club feeling like it is way behind me more. It's just a cluster of results. Most of the time, I can't get any speed on the swing. If I get my arms down faster, I just throw them out.  2. I focus all my attention on turning better. Pushing off with my left leg and getting my right side through better. On the DTL view, this doesn't produce anywhere close where the hands and club should be. The result is usually ball first contact, lower ball flight, more centered contact.  At this point, I am going with option 2. Stop thinking about what the hands do. Just make a shorter backswing, keep it wide, turn through. Somehow, the club head finds the ball. My focus is so much on just making sure I turn, it's like, "Oh, that contact was better.... Oh, that bell flight looks playable." If not, I will just be practicing my entire summer.
    • Nope, they spent too much money. They are in over 28 million on the football roster and related NIL compensation at this point. Boosters associated with any Texas college football team has HUGE sway. The AD is between a rock and a hard place. They put a lot of money into Sorsby, at the chance of winning a NC this year. If you move on, you basically wasted a lot.  This is why Ohio State wants 3 QB's they feel can start. That is why the backups the past 5 years at some point transfer. Texas Tech has no backup near the quality of Sorsby. If they move on, they are screwed for 2026.
    • Maybe there's something I still don't understand about the situation. Wouldn't Texas Tech do itself a favor to move on from Sorsby at this point?
