Just re-upped with Evolvr and got my first analysis back. Glad I did, I'm someone who definitely needs supervision! :-P I have finally got the Stupid Monkey business down and I just do what I'm told and focus on that without looking for other things, but I can easily slip into over doing things. Tell me to take two and I might pop the whole bottle! My shoulder turn is TOO steep now! Lol. Anyway, did some of the drills and made some practice swings in the backyard to see some video and get a feel for it. They seem to be pretty easy changes (without a ball anyway). Immediately started seeing a much better A5-A6 dtl without having to force it at all. I was surprised how quickly these tweaks changed the picture there, I was only really shooting video to makes sure I was doing the drill correctly but the whole picture changed significantly with the first couple of swings. I gotta watch my Key#1 though, these new backswing feels can really get me transferring off the ball if I'm sloppy. The first few tries had me moving a good 4-5 inches off the ball, but once I became aware of it (from video playback) I could reign it in to the acceptable range, but definitely something I'll have to be careful of while working on this change.

Good point. So here's a few swings w/no ball just to get feedback on what I'm trying to do.

This is what I mean about the moving off the ball, I get back, but I rather not have to. It only happened in a few of my swings, so...just gotta keep an eye on it I guess.

I would think that is ok for practice. A few of Erik's drills have the weight preset forward.

No. It's never okay to setup that way. Unless you want to hit pushes all day long.

When Erik pre-sets his weight forward for a drill, it looks like this:

But ultimately, I think Ernest needs to setup with more weight back at setup. A counter-intuitive priority piece.

Think about the geometry of what he's doing, and what good players actually do when they setup to a golf ball. There's a reason he fires pushes that don't draw all day long.

Look, I've been thru this myself. I'm trying to save him a couple years of frustration here. Even Charlie ****in' Wie doesn't setup like that.

Trying to keep a steady head is useless given Ernest's current head location. It cannot stay there because if it did, the pivot would be terrible and tilting towards the target.

I understand this comes from a fear of hitting fat -- or rather, hitting fat A TON before learning about "weight forward" -- but now you gotta go back to presetting things further back. He complains that now his shoulders are too steep. Well, they have to be to keep his head steady, but his head doesn't want to stay steady because A4 is horrendous if he kept it there.

They are right though. Your head isn't moving so much, as it is going to where it should be at setup.


Set up like a triangle / \ then just bump your hips forward an inch or two.
