Agree -

And you gotta love Johnny Miller for speaking his mind. Something tells me that TW won't be please with Johnny's commentary.   Looking forward to NBC's US Open coverage.

The commentators can't see anything, they're not on the course, and the one who was said the drop was valid.

Furthermore, a Google Maps of the hole perfectly well validates that if the ball started well to the right and hooked high and left it would have been across land for a LONG time.

Also, he dropped 60 yards back of where he splashed.

Because we all know that Tiger Woods would never make a mistake when taking a drop.

Because we all know that Tiger Woods would never make a mistake when taking a drop.

I don't think anyone is debating that. We all saw Tiger make a mistake with his drop at the Masters, some claim he is a cheater, others (including ALL the Ruling Bodies) disagree. In THIS case his competitor (the guy playing AGAINST him) agreed with the location of the drop. What more can you ask for?

Yours in earnest, Jason.

I don't know exactly where he dropped, but it's definitely possible to hit that shot.

Abu Dhabi as well, he incorrectly took a drop because he thought his ball was imbedded.

I'd have liked Rolfing to make an absolute call from the get go - by his commentary, he didn't give me the impression that the ball carried any turf.  Only later was he absolutely certain.

u B right B-) Further back a ok further up even better So the commentators on the course can't see it but the players can :-D

Everyone is going about this drop like it was some sort of advantage?  With the tees "up" on Sunday, the drive was approx. 170-190 yards based on where he took his drop.  Also, has everyone forgot the stance he had?  The ball was 2 or so feet above his shoes, in the deep rough about 250+ yards away from the green.  How the hell is that a drop with an advantage?  AND on top of that, he still made a double bogey ANYWAY.

The level of "idiot" in people never seems to surprise me.

Rick you are in the Army no? It sure seems like we pay you a lot to be on youtube and the forum all day.

I saw the video where SG was asked about the shot but it didn't seem like he was whinning too much.

Can we get a "stickie" called "Tiger trolls and haters" so the mods can just throw stupid comments in there and they can have their place on the site to shit the bed?

Tiger is a freak of nature and I have yet to see anybody else anywhere, ever, do that.  Regardless, it's certainly not something anybody should be expected to have to do.

John Daly did it a few years ago and pulled a muscle in his rib cage putting him on the shelf for a couple of months.

I don't care what anybody says, it was bullshit clear and simple. After the wimpy tournament officials ruled in his favor, Tiger could have still made it right by withdrawing. I, and many others, would have greatly respected that, and he would have been well on the way to salvaging the public's perception of his character. But, I forgot, Tiger doesn't give a damn about that. So be it, Tiger. Win all the tournaments you want, and by the way, you still haven't beaten Jack's major record, and at the end of the day, all you are is an ******* who can play golf.

Another one post hate rant.  Join just to get your licks in on Tiger.  You must have a wonderful life if that you only way of getting your kicks.

If no controversy then why the thread/title??

The only controversy is in the fantasies that these haters dream up every time Tiger tees it up.  I'm reposting the comment I made a couple of pages back, as it seems equally appropriate here.

Why do you think that Casey Wittenberg and his Caddie are liars? That's basically what you are implying.

Would never call a tour rookie playing w/ the game's great a liar -

It looks that way if you view the second video.

A video made by a conspiracy theorist who "has dedicated himself to clearing Joe Paterno's name in the Penn State scandal."

And I'm saying conspiracy theorist, because anybody who suggests that Wittenberg or his caddy was not going to be fair in their judgment is suggesting that they are complicit in Tiger's cheating.  Both of those notions are beyond absurd.

For god's sake, I didn't mean the people standing near tiger would walk and clap, I meant the other people at the ropes on the other of the fairway when Sergio hit.  Even with the people standing around him, you can see large groups of people moving.

You aren't going to convince me that Tiger didn't make up the point about asking the Marshal if Sergio already hit. The entire interaction is on tape and it didn't happen.  Is this whole incident a big deal?  Absolutely not. I think Sergio is being a baby, but I also think that Tiger making this up, shows us another small part of his character.  Tiger Woods knows who the marshals on the course are.  Have you been to a PGA Tour event?  It's obvious even to the spectators who the marshals are.

Clever escort comment, however.

It's possible he was lying, but it's also possible he isn't...and it's possible he misconstrued some interaction with some official as being given the go-ahead.

I'm going to amend some prior statements because I was mostly going off of the post where somebody quoted somebody saying that the marshal's comments were taken out of context.  But it doesn't really look like they were taken out of context to me.  Either way, I believe this is still being blown out of proportion.

This guy is awesome.  From this video I have learned that hitting a pop-up hook is not physically possible...even for Tiger Woods.  I've also learned that dropping 255 yards away from a par 4 is not "way back."
