I envy you.

Hope the weather cooperates. I'm sticking with my Luke Donald pick. I know he'll struggle on some of the longer holes, but I'm guessing so will the majority of the field. I'm still thinking single digits under par will win.

Just wait until the Derecho makes it there.... things will only get worse. Much worse. I can't find the forecast now, but they're saying if this thing moves into the PA area (which it most likely will) by Friday/Saturday, that the course may not even be playable at all for this tournament. Who the hell knows what is going to happen...

Hell, for some it's a bucket list item that they have been looking forward to. Golf finals belong on Sunday, period. Hopefully it gets done.

I hope it works out too.  My wife is super pissed that I am going to miss my first fathers day for the Open, but like you said, this is probably a once in a life time event for me.  I am so excited to go and I have a meeting in Cheltenham on Monday, so i am starting my excuses early, just in case, lol.

The weather forecast for Merion does not look good. I wouldn't be surprised to see tomorrow's round being called fairly early in the day. It's unfortunate. I'm ready to stop talking US Open and start watching the US Open.

The Monday playoff happened to be the same day I was required to show up for jury duty.  At the beginning of each group's arrival (one in the morning and one in the afternoon), they play an instructional video for the potential jurors.  I arrived in the morning group and watched it, then later the administrators turned on some movie channel.  Eventually some folks convinced the lady to change it to golf, once it came on.  It played throughout the day, and it was awesome watching the playoff.

So, it just so happens that most of the group was still in the administration area watching the tournament when the afternoon group shows up.  Tiger and Rocco are on the 18th tee of the playoff round, and Tiger needs to make up a stroke on the final hole.  Literally seconds after Rocco tees off, the video cuts out, and the instructional video starts to play over it.  At first everybody was shocked when the feed cut out, and then it turned to outrage that they turned on the instructional video for the afternoon group which had just arrived.  A riot nearly broke out as several people were shouting at the lady to turn golf back on and play the video afterwards.  She wouldn't do it, and some people were incredibly frustrated by it (as was I).

Eventually, after like 15 minutes of that incredibly annoying video, the feed comes back on, and if I remember correctly, Tiger was in the fairway of the sudden death hole, and the crowd roared in excitement as not only was the golf back on, but that meant Tiger had birdied the 18th to force a sudden death playoff.  Then we got to see the finish, eventually.  I'll never forget how that played out.

The weather is really bad. This could really effect the outcome of this championship. Kinda like sometimes at the Open when you have no chance if you're on the wrong end of the draw.

Hmm, Colsaerts must have holed out from the fairway.  An early par 4 eagle!  Nice.

Well, we got POUNDED here in NE Ohio last night and it's still pretty nasty this morning. It's very "doom and gloom" out, solid gray skies with no definition in the clouds, very foggy, 74° and misty. Supposedly we're getting hit again throughout most of today with a clearing overnight.

I only mention this because the storms are moving in line from NE Ohio to Merion, so hopefully Friday and Saturday work out well. As for today, I am not thinking we will see much golf.

Roger Tambellini's scorecard looks more like one of mine...

I'm hoping it clears up and dries out. I was supposed to hit Mallard Creek last night, but we cancelled because of the rain. Trying to go tonight.

    • New clubs came in this morning and I happened to be working in the area so I picked them up. PING G430 Max 3W (-1.5°) with PING Tour 2.0 Black 75, X-Stiff at -1/2" PING G430 3H with PING Tour 2.0 Chrome 85, X-Stiff Those replace my old fairway wood and hybrid, making all 14 clubs in my bag fitted. I'm going to need new excuses for bad shots 😜
    • Ooh, I don't know about that. I've hit flop shots that are 6-7° down. The more you widen the spin loft the less ball speed you put into the ball.
    • Re: your graphic, ‘ I expected a little more from a varsity letterman.’ Lol…just another one for @boogielicious
    • Can't brag about a 50 last night but it was the best round of my season (4 rounds of 9 holes) so I am not as upset as I could be.  One thing I am noticed is that I got a little more confident in my long hybrids and I attempted a couple longer shots that typically I would just lay up and those holes were a big part of the lower score.  Not every shot was great but good enough that they helped.  I even shot par on a Par 5 after taking a drop.  On that hole I would usually lay-up to @ 100 yards and often miss the green altogether with my 3rd shot (or worse chunk my approach and put it in the waste area).  Yesterday I went for it from @ 200 yards out with wind in my face and landed in the waste area short of the green.  My drop left @ 40 yards in and I stuck it to 3 feet for my par putt.  If I had laid up I would have avoided the penalty stroke but likely would not have been on the green in regulation and may still have been working for par.  By going for it I gave myself a chance at birdie and still saved par. I do not plan on being crazy aggressive but I think I tend to be too conservative at times so I will "go for it" a little more often going forward.
    • Day 14 (15 May 24) - Worked with the SW in the backyard, short pitches from 10yds up to 30yds.   Focused on ball placement in stance - ball back, ball forward, ball center.  Afterwards moved to inside the shop to work on putting pace on the rug - putting one way gives about an 8' putt, going the other a 6' before bumping onto the adjacent rug.  Focused there on the line - picking a target point about 18"-24" out and making sure the ball rolls through that point.
