That means nothing. Tiger has won plenty of tournaments after a bad first round. As ong as he isn't more than +3 at the end of his first round, he has a good shot as anyone.

I just don't like his chances this weekend.

Doesn't seem good.

Either he isn't striking well and it is in his head enough he is faking soreness...or he is really sore and causing bad shots.

Either way, doesn't speak well for his game mentally. Although this break might be good for him to rest and reset and start over mentally.

I felt like it was more his putting and short game.

I like that small par 3 (hole #13?).I think that might be the smallest par 3 these guys get to play.

Does anybody else think phil milkelson made a change to cleveland golf with his golf bag he has now?Looks just like the cleveland golf logo on the side

You guys are counting Tiger out of it through 10 holes on day 1?

don't have a good feeling about Tiger this week, he just doesn't look sharp in any aspect of his game ... it's a pity his "run" since the start of the year has come to a halt at the Memorial, at an inopportune time in the golfing calender.  Hope he gets his game back before the British and PGA and snags one major this year.

Go Luke ... vindicate that (previous) #1 ranking, mate.

He's got 26 holes to figure something out on Friday. I don't think Tiger is winning this week, but I do think he'll find a way to get into the discussion.

Would be good to see Luke Donald finally win a major.

Woods doesn't look good, he always has problems with adjusting to different/slower greens and that left wrist/elbow didn't look to good either.

But still lots of golf to be played and first round leaders rarely go on to win.

All about Luke Donald (biased opinion of course)!

Those final few shots that tiger had were shocking... it was like watching myself on the course, clearly something wrong there. The stoppage has come at a great time for Woods in my opinion.

Still think Phil will win this, his short game is just immense

p.s. that 17th green is horrific!

Tiger didn't do too bad the last time he was injured at a US Open, but he will have to step up his game. His game so far this tournament and at the Memorial was not impressive.

    • Is it? I bought the Stack radar to replace my PRGR based on what Stack told me! When I am swinging for speed, the PRGR would miss 50%-80% of my backswings due to a higher speed. The stack seldom misses those- at least for me.
    • As an analyst by nature, I would like to compare the scores under both systems. It is something we can easily do if we have the data. I actually thought the new system was less fair to those whose game was on the decline - like mine! Old: Best 10 of last 20 scores with the .96 multiplier. Course handicap excluded course rating and overall par. New: Best 8/20. Course handicap includes course rating -par. My understanding is Stableford caps scores at Net double bogey like stroke play. If so, handicap should be slower to rise because you are only using 8 versus 10 scores. If I am missing something, I am curious enough to  want to understand what that may be. My home course tees that I play are 72.1/154 now. My best score out here is 82. When my game started to decline, my handicap didn’t budge for 13 rounds because of good scores in my first 8! I know I am an anomaly but my handicap has increased almost 80% in the past few years (with only a few rounds this year). For a few months I knew I was losing every bet because my game was nowhere near my handicap. I suspect I have steamrolled a few nuances but that shouldn’t matter much. When I have modeled this with someone playing the same tees and course, one good round, or return to form, will immediately reduce the handicap by some amount.
