Is he or isn't he (Tiger) playing?  If not, I hope Rory bounces back and wins this week.

Yeah! I'm definitely a Tiger fan but I just can't help but pull for Rory, so much I like about this kid, hell, all of the kids, was really happy to see Henley win again even if meant Rory losing. I have a feeling Rory is going to win a crap load of money this year.

Yours in earnest, Jason.

Anyone know what kind of meds Tiger is permitted to take to 'cure' the back issues?  Any drug prescribed by an MD?  OTC anti-inflams?  Yoga capsule?

Seem to be lots of elite players carrying injuries right now.TW and Oostie are nursing bad backs which they've been struggling with since the summer of last year and naturally Stenson's wrist injury is well documented.  Justin Rose has a problem with his shoulder right now.  That's 3 Ryder Cuppers who are having to 'work through' long term injuries and that's never going to be ideal. Agree with Ernest ^^^^^^ that the fit Rory McIlroy is going to have one hell of a 2014......it's just a matter of time before his first win of many this year.

Right now he's paired up with Adam Scott and Henrik Stenson for tomorrow....so I think so?

Yeah. Meds that aren't listed on the banned substances list.

I'll keep my fingers crossed that he will play. He needs as much "reps" as he can get, if he wants to get ready for Augusta.

Very excited about this one. If Tiger isn't injured and can play, I see him contending, I get he hasn't yet this year, but comon, he isn't doing enough reps, he has barely played. If you play 2 tournaments, chances are you aren't going to win no matter who you are. Rory should do well, don't know exactly what happened in final round last week, but playing really solid this year. The 3 wood to force playoff was one of the best shots I've ever seen. Adam Scott and (I think Phil) are also in this one, so may also be solid contenders. Looking forward to it.

He's playing

That's good.  I saw a commercial for the tournament last night hyping the fact that he, Rory, Scott, Mickelson, etc were all going to be there and I got really cynical.

I thought to myself that maybe his people told him he had to at least pretend that he might play so they could still run those commercials until the tournament started.  :)

I'm glad that's not true.

    • Is it? I bought the Stack radar to replace my PRGR based on what Stack told me! When I am swinging for speed, the PRGR would miss 50%-80% of my backswings due to a higher speed. The stack seldom misses those- at least for me.
    • As an analyst by nature, I would like to compare the scores under both systems. It is something we can easily do if we have the data. I actually thought the new system was less fair to those whose game was on the decline - like mine! Old: Best 10 of last 20 scores with the .96 multiplier. Course handicap excluded course rating and overall par. New: Best 8/20. Course handicap includes course rating -par. My understanding is Stableford caps scores at Net double bogey like stroke play. If so, handicap should be slower to rise because you are only using 8 versus 10 scores. If I am missing something, I am curious enough to  want to understand what that may be. My home course tees that I play are 72.1/154 now. My best score out here is 82. When my game started to decline, my handicap didn’t budge for 13 rounds because of good scores in my first 8! I know I am an anomaly but my handicap has increased almost 80% in the past few years (with only a few rounds this year). For a few months I knew I was losing every bet because my game was nowhere near my handicap. I suspect I have steamrolled a few nuances but that shouldn’t matter much. When I have modeled this with someone playing the same tees and course, one good round, or return to form, will immediately reduce the handicap by some amount.
