One thing about the swing of Reed and Watson. It looks like their lead knee isn't going to give them any problems in the long run compared to a more conventional swing.

One other interesting observation.  The media's obsession with TW has completely overshadowed Jordan Spieth's explosion on the PGA Tour.  He has certainly gotten some love, but more in the context of "He's a good young player".  If he pulls this off today, TW's start would pale in comparison to what Spieth has done prior to being able to buy a beer to celebrate a victory.

Um....Tiger happened to be a little older when he turned PRO.  His Amateur record blows away Spieth...and that was before his 21st birthday.   Tiger won 2 of his 3 tournaments he played.   He won his first Major by 12 strokes in his like 9th event ever on tour.   Like many other good players.....they are trying to push him as the "next Tiger".   He is not.   He will not drive TV ratings and Golf "needle".

That's all a good counter-point.

Youngest ever (if he wins, which is obviously not a guarantee)… but what'd he do before it? What will he do after it?

My rooting interests for today in order:

Kuchar

Spieth

Fowler/Jimenez

Blixt

I'd love to see Freddie pull it off, but he's just too far back.

Has Spieth really "exploded?" He's only won once. Granted he's been a consistent contender over the past year, but he hasn't got the resume that's even close to Tiger at a young age. Like mentioned above, Tiger won 3 US Amateurs and won his first major by 12 strokes.

Now, if Spieth wins today, he'll get his love. Young guns like McIlroy and Fowler will get put on the backburner, Tiger's name will be put aside and this kid will be put front and center in the golf world. Will be interesting to see how he handles it if that were to happen.

Alot of people have short memories about alot of players.  Just cause a guy like Mcilroy isn't winning or a guy like Speith has a chance to win, doesn't mean one is now washed up and the other is the next Tiger.  Rory will be just fine, and so will Speith.  Neither are anywhere near Tiger imo.

I just saw some interview footage from Rory after being beat by the marker and all I can say is, Rory is a great kid with an awesome attitude. Definitely my favourite young gun. Instead of getting pissy he actually said the marker (didn't catch his name) was a great putter with a lot of knowledge of the greens and that he (Rory) could learn a lot from him. How good of an attitude is that??? Wow.

two eagles on 13th so far (Schnedeker/Lyle)...........maybe predictive of fireworks later this afternoon......?

Looking at the scoreboard as a whole, there aren't many players in red figures for the day, and no one has made a big move up in the standings. That would suggest risk is outweighing the rewards of aggressive play in today's conditions. Spieth has recorded rounds of 71-70-70 so far in this tournament. The last player to win the Masters without a round in the 60s was Larry Mize in 1987.

Why is Adam Scott going backwards?  I really thought he'd rally today.

Come on Freddie!

That would be awesome. I think it's pretty unlikely but, damn, that would be cool!

Let's go KOOCH!!!!!!

Edit* Yuck.

I wonder if that little hover move is starting to hurt his game? Seems like it would get all his weight back on his heels. Very odd move.

    • Imma throw a dart in the dark as no one can tell what is happening once every fourth iron shot per your OP. This might sound counterintuitive but if ball position is too far back in the stance folks are known to throw down clubhead steeply. Could be happening. And yes, @billchaois not wrong; clubhead tends to bottom out wherever your pressure is. So slide forward (not sway), then hit.
    • Day 300 (!): did a stack session.
    • Day 24: Missed my weekly round due to a last minute little league makeup game this morning. Managed to get in some backswing rehearsals while grilling sausages for dinner, and then putted around the office/laundry room after dinner.
    • but I don't understand how that's possible you still want your head to stay back you don't want the upper body coming forward and plus I've tried feeling that and it made my fat shots worse and I then tend to pull and sky all my shots especially with driver because I get in front of it dont need force plates to see i finish on my left side
