I'd love to see Adam Scott win again. Great player and a decent bloke. I don't think he can defend the title though, it's a VERY tough ask! Matt Kuchar for me, he has been in great form and surely now's the time to roll with it in the first major of the year. My money will be going on him!

One player I expect in the top 5 is Sergio Garcia. I'm sure he'll be all smiles out there knowing that Woods is out of the mix. His game suits Augusta too.

Jimenez not in Houston this week.  Probably meandering around Georgia taking in the blooms and checking out the sand (traps) of Augusta. No doubt also gearing up the wine cellar in his rented house as he will need gallons of the red stuff after he takes home the green jacket and well wishes of all his compatriots, and fellow wine-drinking golfers.  I believe he will be the oldest ever to win the Master's and possibly the oldest ever major winner too.  Miguel did  not enter the Master's last year due to broken leg. But was recovered in time to win the Hong Kong Open in Dec 2013 so is well and fit today.

Wouldn't pick Dustin Johnson......he's busy thinking about other things....

Ya thats what I'm saying. He's so whipped on Paulina its not even funny. The marriage won't last either.

Sergio is looking good at Houston and will do well in Augusta too.  He no longer has a gf, as she 'dumped' him after they won the Thailand Open in Dec .  She was on his bag during that week so Sergio has nothing but golf on his mind these days...ha ha.

Sergio and his girlfriend are still together, she's just not his caddy anymore. Nonetheless, as I mentioned previously, I expect him to finish inside the top 5 at Augusta.

Right.  I checked this out and it's 'my bad'. However, Sergio and I must have different opinions as to the meaning of the word 'dumped' when used in a romantic relationship. I never thought the caddy could dump the pro.

Anyway, she's seems to  be good for him, can play good golf and is easy on the eyes. Probably better educated than ole Serg, however.

Kind of interesting watching the Drive, Chip, Putt - thought it was contrived at first - we'll see how long this program lasts and what is produced out of it. Is it to improve the public perception of Augusta National - rich old white guy's society (after Martha Burk protesting)?  It does give everyone their first glimpses of Augusta National for the year.....a good thing.

Seriously Rick? Do you have to act like a douche about everything ?

I spent three hours watching it this morning with my wife, and my kiddo asked that we record it so I'm gonna watch it again later. Condoleezza Rice, Bubba Watson, Fred Couples, Zach Johnson, Mark O'Meara, Nick Faldo… several others were all out there cheering these KIDS on. They were getting to hit a putt on the 18th green at Augusta National on a Sunday in April that meant something - they might or might not win a national (international) tournament.

My kid's doing it next year, and it's great for the growth of the game.

Improve the public perception of Augusta National? And I thought I was cynical, cripes.

Out of all the incredibly douchey posts that Little Ricky has posted over the years, this is the one that pisses you off? This doesn't even registered on the scale of Ricky's douche potential, I mean, I suppose it's a 3 or 4 on the Rick Martin douche scale but seriously, that scale goes WAY, WAY, WAY PAST eleven.

Yours in earnest, Jason.

Yeah, because now he's practically picking on ****ing CHILDREN at this point.

He's upped his game and is rounding into form just in time for the Masters. :-P

Add Matt Jones into the Masters field. Woo hoo....have you ever seen a more star-studded Masters field? Bring on the Chris Kirk-Matt Every-Steven Bodwitch-Matt Jones Sunday showdown. I can't wait.

BTW, if that actually happens, I will literally watch a boring NASCAR race next Sunday before I will The Masters.

    • I've played Bali Hai, Bear's Best and Painted Desert. I enjoyed Bali Hai the most--course was in great shape, friendly staff and got paired in a great group. Bear's Best greens were very fast, didn't hold the ball well (I normally have enough spin to stop the ball after 1-2 hops).  The sand was different on many holes. Some were even dark sand (recreation of holes from Hawaii). Unfortunately I was single and paired with a local "member" who only played the front 9.  We were stuck behind a slow 4-some who wouldn't let me through even when the local left. Painted Desert was decent, just a bit far from the Strip where we were staying.

    • Honestly, unless there's something about that rough there that makes it abnormally penal or a lost ball likely, this might be the play. I don't know how the mystrategy cone works, but per LSW, you don't use every shot for your shot zones. In that scatter plot, you have no balls in the bunker, and 1 in the penalty area. The median outcome seems to be a 50 yard pitch. Even if you aren't great from 50 yards, you're better off there than in a fairway bunker or the penalty area on the right of the fairway. It could also be a strategy you keep in your back pocket if you need to make up ground. Maybe this is a higher average score with driver, but better chance at a birdie. Maybe you are hitting your driver well and feel comfortable with letting one rip.  I get not wanting to wait and not wanting to endanger people on the tee, but in a tournament, I think I value playing for score more than waiting. I don't value that over hurting people, but you can always yell fore 😆 Only thing I would say is I'm not sure whether that cone is the best representation of the strategy (see my comment above about LSW's shot zones). To me, it looks like a 4 iron where you're aiming closer to the bunker might be the play. You have a lot of shots out to the right and only a few to the left. Obviously, I don't know where you are aiming (and this is a limitation of MyStrategy), but it seems like most of your 4 iron shots are right. You have 2 in the bunker but aiming a bit closer to the bunker won't bring more of your shots into the bunker. It does bring a few away from the penalty area on the right.  This could also depend on how severe the penalties are for missing the green. Do you need to be closer to avoid issues around the green?  It's not a bad strategy to hit 6 iron off the tee, be in the fairway, and have 150ish in. I'm probably overthinking this.
