Judgemental much?

No not really.. What is wrong with my opinion? At least I am not ripping on the guys wife.. I just don't tolerate drug use and have no sympathy for drug users.. Is that bad? If it turns out to be something else mental or physical disease or something I hope he recovers soon as I mentioned!

Legs spread on a boat. Christ almighty. Ain't nothing wrong with these women. They are allowed to live any way they want as long they aren't hurting anyone.

Well said. Ironically, I think Shorty posts those statements for the same reasons that Paulina posts pics on instagram.

I have to come out and say it.. I agree with @Shorty on this one! I'm not feeling bad for the guy one bit IF this is drugs/alcohol (alcohol part is from me) related! Just none what so ever...

It could be anything else and I would wish him well though, until more comes out he seems like a good guy and even someone who is down to earth worth having a coffee with!

I guess I'm waiting to hear more to form a better formed opinion of the guy, not sure any detailed info will ever get out though!

You know that alcoholism is considered a disease right?  And that one of the factors that contributes to alcohol abuse is family history.  Certainly not saying this applies to DJ or not, but regardless, you can certainly exclude me from your "many others" assumption.  (And based on most of the other posts in this thread, I'm guessing I'm not the only one)

I don't expect many others to either, but it could be different for others depending on their experiences!

Anthony Kim would be at the top of he list...If he still counts as a golfer

He doesn't.  Golf Channel confirmed not long ago he has given up golf... he doesn't even play it recreationally anymore.

As of 7/28/14, Kim is shown as having 16 starts left on his Major Medical Extension, so I expect we will see him back at some point.  http://www.pgatour.com/fantasy/medical-extensions.html

As long as you are happy to apply the same standards to your wife/girlfriend, sister that/s fine.

They can do what they like. I, personally, myself, me prefer the real to the fake and I particularly hate narcissism.

Call me old fashioned, but I tend not to be attracted to publicity *****s who feel that unless they're half naked they have no value. And think that posting "sexy" instagram pictures of themselves looking "cute" is cool. Sorry. ;-)

In the race of life, always back self-interest. At least you know it's trying.

I don't know either personally so I can only comment based on the way the media portrays them.  Seems the last thing a guy with potential substance abuse issues needs is a girlfriend / wife with the same issues.  Paulina doesn't strike me as someone that's ready to give up the party scene just yet.

I wish them both the best.  The guy has a lot of talent so I hope he gets mentally healthy so he can compete at the level he should be.

You are certainly entitled to your opinion on DJ! I know that some like to classify alcohol as a disease, and it would be OT for me to get into it.. Maybe someday I'll start a thread on is alcoholism a disease or not though!

I only have one expectation for the women in my life, and it's to treat others like they want to be treated. I do not get in their business about what they do with THEIR bodies. As long as they are kind and good, I don't care.

You're good man! I enjoy your posts (whether I agree or disagree). Nothing wrong with a little discussion as long as both sides are reasonable and open-minded. This is totally OT now haha. Regarding DJ...does anyone know how the PGA handles situations where a player needs help with substance abuse/addiction? Seems like they would keep it under wraps in any way possible, trying to uphold this "gentleman's" standard of golf, and also to protect the players' privacy. I recall reading about DJ's back issues a couple of years ago (when I didn't follow golf much)...some comments were insinuating that he was actually in recovery from a crack addiction. Not saying I believe this...just got me thinking.

Well when Matt Every got busted for pot, they just said they suspended him for "conduct unbecoming of a professional", according to Golf Channel's Rex Hoggard. http://www.golfchannel.com/news/golf-central-blog/speculation-will-lead-scrutiny-djs-leave/

Yeah, who the hell cares?

Well, as long as it's not my daughter, that is. And as long as guys who prefer that type don't ever come calling on my daughter.

There's a logical conflict in there somewhere, but I don't have the inclination to parse the sentence - I get what you are saying though.

    • Day 11: did mirror work for a while. Worked on the same stuff.
    • I'm not sure you're calculating the number of strokes you would need to give correctly. The way I figure it, a 6.9 index golfer playing from tees that are rated 70.8/126 would have a course handicap of 6. A 20-index golfer playing from tees that are rated 64/106 would have a course handicap of 11. Therefore, based on the example above, assuming this is the same golf course and these index & slope numbers are based on the different tees, you should only have to give 5 strokes (or one stroke on the five most difficult holes if match play) not 6. Regardless, I get your point...the average golfer has no understanding of how the system works and trying to explain it to people, who haven't bothered to read the documentation provided by either the USGA or the R&A, is hopeless. In any case, I think the WHS as it currently is, does the best job possible of leveling the playing field and I think most golfers (obviously, based on the back & forth on this thread, not all golfers) at least comprehend that.
    • Day 115 12-5 Skills work tonight. Mostly just trying to be more aware of the shaft and where it's at. Hit foam golf balls.
    • Day 25 (5 Dec 25) - total rain day, worked on tempo and distance control.
    • Yes it's true in a large sample like a tournament a bunch of 20 handicaps shouldn't get 13 strokes more than you. One of them will have a day and win. But two on one, the 7 handicap is going to cover those 13 strokes the vast majority of the time. 20 handicaps are shit players. With super high variance and a very asymmetrical distribution of scores. Yes they shoot 85 every once in a while. But they shoot 110 way more often. A 7 handicap's equivalent is shooting 74 every once in a while but... 86 way more often?
