Well I edited and posted after you so you tell me what that means? What's the charge after 7 days for?

The next dozen balls in the cycle.

You don't get a free dozen at least I didn't. I got 1 dozen for $.99 then was charged $39.95 and didn't receive another dozen.

So then they send you another dozen balls 7 days later and it's just worded poorly I guess.

That's how I read it, but I can see how it can be interpreted your way.

Did you get your free dozen and cancel yet?

I haven't ordered.

I'm probably not going to, because I read some other text on their site that says this:

Which lead me to conclude this:

You don't get a free dozen at least I didn't. I got 1 dozen for $.99 then was charged $39.95 and didn't receive another dozen.

So yea, James, it seems you are right. It does seem dishonest. Looks like the balls are "free" only if you don't keep them.

Yep

So they are free to "try"?  Meaning you could use them and then return?

Do you think they will give a refund if someone can send them the approximate location of where they can locate the 12 balls?

Hmmm... Maybe..

I don't hit it very far, so I would be able to tell with more "approximation" than some.

I was charged as well a few weeks after I got my balls. Make sure you call them. They will send you a dozen a month and charge you for them. You have to call and cancel which I what I did.

I understood that. But I haven't received anything and it has been over a month despite being charged the shipping plus the cost of a dozen.

I really liked these when I tested them.  I thought they were on par with a ProV1, but since they cost just about as much, I didn't find there to be any real value in buying them.

But do you "keep" a ball if its lost in the water/woods, and therefore accept the $40 charge?

This was exactly my opinion as well.  Then I realized that since they're not MORE expensive than ProV1's that there is a big upside:

No worries of anybody ever mistaking your ball for theirs.  My anxiety level after a tee shot into the wrong fairway will be considerably lower knowing that my ball is safe from dummies who go "yup, it's a Titleist, so it MUST be mine" ;)

Also, a little birdie told me that if you order from golfshopcentral.com and use the pro code "sandtrap" that you get a small (10%, I think) discount, so it is definitely a little bit cheaper than Prov1.

So, I bought 2 dozen a couple of weeks ago but haven't played since I received them.  Next week. :)

Haha, But what do you say when your partner looks down at a ball and asks you what ball you're playing?  "uh, well, its got a logo with an orange X on it"?

I found that to be a minor annoyance as most times it lead to a conversation about what the heck i was playing, where i got it, etc..  But I did like the ball.  For $30/doz I'd consider it.

Yeah, I'm not really looking forward to the beginning of a tournament where I have to identify my ball for my playing competitors, because they're all going to do double takes, and likely at least one of them is going to wonder if its one of those goofy illegal balls like the Polara or something.  Like you said ... minor annoyance.

At least it's not a Monsta though.  I couldn't take those seriously at all with the giant green eyeball on it. :-P

I like I am sure many others drank the free ball cool aid, and now I want to cancel.  Do I contact Kick X or the marketing company?

Also, would someone who has successfully canceled their "free deal" please post the contact number or email.

I know I didn't read the terms of the offer, and I realize I'm an idiot, so please don't rub it in. :surrender:

  • 2 weeks later...

OK, let me save everyone some time and get this over with.  I will be the first to admit that am an idiot, I fell for the lure of free balls, I didn't read the fine print, etc., etc. :surrender:

Now that being said, does anybody have the number I need to call to cancel future shipments?

Thanks,

Charles

The number was on their Facebook page (855) 528-3454 https://www.facebook.com/KickXGolf. Funny that they don't have it listed on their website, never a good sign from a business you want to deal with. Good luck.

I really wish they would do away with this little marketing scheme. I can't imagine they need it. The ball is literally the best tour quality ball I have tried in my opinion.

    • My two cents? Don't. As a beginner that's interested in learning about the golf swing, you'll find yourself consuming a lot of information, most of which isn't even relevant to your own swing. You need to learn you can't think your way to a good golf swing. Focus on the one thing that you're working on and doing that on every swing, come what may. And remember, mishits happen.
    • Day 6 (7 May 24) - More work in the backyard focused on tempo in addition to setup.  Worked with 6 and 7 irons hitting hard foam balls - used the old MacGregor irons to mix it up a little.
    • No! lol. But they have to be in the right sequence to play mid-handicap golf or little better. Mostly. And even in that there is range/margin for error in the motions and positions that most normal humans can handle. It helps if you have a decent idea of how a golf club moves around the body like you would any other equipment sports (baseball and hockey might be the closest) After all, fairways are 40 yards wide. Don't overthink it. Be diligent in getting basics right. I will concede that it is harder than it sounds but it certainly is not exact angle/exact position/exact degree of bend/exact speed/exact facial expression, etc, every.... single.... time or the result is horrible death.
    • Looking to play in the Severna Park Golf league and it got rained out the first three weeks. I know the course is being renovated so it is not in great shape but the location is easy for me and I would love to meet some other golfers in my area. Anyone here in Maryland Annapolis area?
    • I like to look at the positives.  Overall you are fairly consistent down the center with most shots 20 yards or less off center.  On most fairways that should be in play.  Sure, you had some very short duds, but also if you look there is a good cluster in the 110-125 yard range.  Sure, we would all like to be longer, but knowing your typical shot is more important than trying to hit the 7-Iron 175 Yards.  Just take more club for longer shots and do not worry about it.  Your distances may increase as you improve over time so do not get caught up on that now.
