Yeah, there must be golf mermaids on the greens or something because I know better but I seem to lose my mind when the situation comes up and make a bad decision.

The sirens are easily avoided as I look at my 3W with a head the size of a melon and shake my head and pick up the 3H or some iron instead.

Putting, by far. I could save a lot of strokes if I could just stop three putting.

Maybe a few, but I'd be willing to bet that's not what's really hurting your game.  May I recommend you look into buying Lowest Score Wins ?

Until you're hitting at least 9 GIR, putting is likely to be way down on the list..... I'm willing to give him the benefit of the doubt. Maybe he plays golf like me

The term "hands of stone" come to mind. I guess some people are just not very finesse oriented.

Without a doubt it's GIR. To be more specific most of the time I either do not get in a great position with my drive OR I hit a good drive but screw up my second shot somehow. If I do hit two good shots in a row, then I almost always par or birdie. If I could get more consistent with two good shots to start each hole that would really help a lot of stuff.

Honestly surprised every answer isn't inconistent ball striking (except for the pros). Just about every problem I face on the course starts with inconsistent ball striking. Even the 3 foot putt I miss to get up and down for par is the result of a prior bad shot. Sure I have a bone headed 3 putt here and there. But that is a stroke or two every other round. Bad ball striking rears it's head every time out and piles up 3-5 strokes a side without doing something stupid. Sometimes it's not a score killer because I scramble or get lucky. However every time I score well, for me, it feels effortless to hit the ball decent.

Some us are still working on our swing, so ball striking is too much in the future to worry about. Felt great about a 5i 175 carry today, but I still hit it a little thin. I'm hoping ball striking will be a problem for me next year?

Ehm working 10 hours a day. so i can't practice and play that much.

Most common miss is the Pull Hook. sometimes i come to much from the inside, because off that

i block my hands with my hip and i have to flick the wrists to get to the ball. Sometimes it works

and i absolutely smash it out there, but more i get the pull hook and end up 2 fairways left.

I keep one thing in mind and that is fade. For my feeling i take the club back outside. actually this is on plane.

at the finish i focus on my left handpalm it should point directly to the target.

When i manage to do all this, the result is a nice little fade.

I suppose my biggest weakness has got to be the pile of gray matter at the center of my thick skull.

Looking at previous rounds, there have been good and bad shots of just about every type the game has to offer. When I look back at a round, what went right and what went wrong, it usually has to do with me getting upset, distracted or simply making mistakes. Good rounds mean I put em in the rear view mirror. Bad rounds mean they multiply.

It's a problem for you now. That's why you're working on it…

They're far more closely tied to a technique that needs improvement than a "mental game" that needs improvement.

At it's simplest level I guess it comes down to ball striking but that seems to general to quantify as biggest weakness.  To refine the problem more, ball striking with woods, chipping and pitching.  If I'm in range for my irons I don't usually have issues like I do with fairway woods and longer hybrids.  My ball striking on shots from 50 - 170 yards is usually pretty good.  Of course I'd like to be closer to the flag, but I can usually put the ball close to where I'm aiming within that range.

1. Distance. Need a lot more of it. I am a long hitter for a 70 year old, the problem is I am not even close to 70. I think I am working it out though but wouldn't be the first time I am wrong. If I ever quit the game it will be because of this.

2. Putting. I am actually decent at putting, statistically speaking, but on the course it doesn't feel that way. Maybe if I was trying to break 90 but not where I want to be.

3. SW/GW off the ground. Real good from a bunker but off the turf once I get past a PW loft I feel like I am going to hit myself in the face with the ball.

4. Every so often shanking my chips creeps into my game. You don't know frustration in golf until you can't advance a chip shot straight and it just shoots to the right. I promise you that.
