Played on Friday at Tahquitz Creek (Legend course).  To say I had driver issues is an understatement, but I pulled it together at the end.  The miss on #17 wasn't a driver issue, it was a "Shindig didn't know where the fairway was" issue.  And I've played this course twice before too.

Played again yesterday, this time in a club tournament (not Tahquitz Creek).  I was still pulling my driver a bit, but no pop ups.  I only didn't pull it on two holes, #7 and #15, where it went straight with a fade.  The other holes I played for the pull and it went well!  On #7, I tried to hit my 4-iron under the tree and I not only didn't, but it went *over* the tree and onto the green (I then three putted for bogey).  On #15, it took me two shots to extricate myself from the side junk, followed by not hitting the green on the next shot.  Triple bogey.

Won low gross in my flight :-)  And have a few notes on what I need to improve upon.

To clarify: tournament yesterday wasn't at Tahquitz Creek.

Probably my best round of the year.  Tee to green was very consistent and putting wasn't bad at all.  Made a couple birdie putts and missed a couple but I can't really complain.  The tee ball was very solid and didn't get into trouble once.  Only missed four greens and easily got up and down on three of them.  If I could point to anything to improve on it would be the couple of short birdie putts missed (6 and 7 footers) and a pulling my irons a bit when I missed greens.

Playing league tomorrow from shorter tees so I'm going to work on the wedges a bit before I play.  Good progress...swing feels good right now.

Fairways and Greens.

83 (ESC 82) today. http://www.gamegolf.com/player/Shindig/round/1694046

Made the turn in 40, two triple bogeys at 10 and 11, then played the remaining seven holes in a collective one over.  What this round could have been. :-)

First time playing this course. Shot 75. I made a 10 footer for par on #16. The only putt made all day.

Huge curves. I was hitting 20 yard draws with my 8I. Not pulls. Couldn't even enjoy well struck shots because the path was so bad. Didn't have anything going with my putter either.

The only good thing was the round was 2:30, so the suffering didn't last long.

Shot an above average round from the short tees today. My irons weren't as crisp as they have been, but I did hit a few GIR's. My putting has shown some improvement with some changes I've made with my stroke and pace. Only lost one ball but was able to salvage a double from that. Had two blow up holes where I failed multiple wedge shots and putts. Those hurt.

I was really happy with my distances and accuracy off the tee - especially with my long irons. I've been pretty confident with approach shots under 120yds this week and today was no different. The driver was better today even if the distances don't reflect that (this course never offers much in the way of roll).

Overall, rounds like this are what keep me coming back. I don't expect to shoot in the low 90's very often but I feel like I'm good enough to occasionally keep my score down there - especially when I'm playing a short course and using irons off the tee as I did today.

Thanks Denny. The game is wildly inconsistent but I am able to shoot low 90's on easy courses... occasionally. At the same time, I'm able to shoot 110's on easy courses.:-P

Just using the phone app.

Played in a tournament on Saturday. Shot 74 38-36. 2 birdies, 4 bogies.

Hit 6/14 Fw's, 14/18 GIR, 34 putts. (1 three jack from 70 feet)

Did not drive it well. Hit my irons decent. Need work on the 40-60 yd shots.

Shot a -2 with a brain fart double bogey ?

Inside 100 yards is becoming a very comfortable range for me, from many different lies. The short game for me feels very confident. I feel like I should be inside 10 from difficult lies and inside 5 ft on easy shots.

Struck the ball like crap for a while, almost bagged it after 9. Fixed the issue (sort of) and played a lot better, shooting 49-43 for the round.

Made a number of long putts though so this round could have easily been worse. I probably made like 60' worth of putts which is really good for me. Couple of misses were lip outs, too, so just a really good putting day.

48/46 from the short tees. Hit a bunch of fairways and GIR's.

Reverted back to some poorer putting today and my wedge play let me down a few times as well. Did well flighting shots from my 8i down, but hit a couple gap wedge shots thin.

Irons - I hit one poor 7i shot but other than that, decent contact. Getting good distance (for me) from off the tee with my mid to long irons.

Trouble shots -  did very well on 2 tries. One was a low 8i bump-and-run that resulted in a birdie. The other was a 4i layup I had to curve around a tree trunk that resulted in GIR.

Driver was fine. Kept everything in play while playing a fade.

After practicing it during the week, I made a point of hitting the 5w today. Topped one for my only penalty, hit the others... ok. Need to put more work into it.

Played $5 High-Low-Total with @NatalieB against @saevel25 and @georgep. Won $15. :-) Five birdies in a single round is pretty rare for me.

Got a lucky break (and turned it into a birdie) on #7. Friendly squirrel.

Shot a 43-51 on Saturday on a long course (6650 yards).  It could have been a really good round (I had visions of breaking 90 for the first time ever after the 43), but I had some truly horrendous shots into spots on the course that cost me multiple strokes.

I did open with a great birdie on the first hole:

...which apparently crossed paths with my double-bogey on 7.  ;-)

Shot a 90 with 6 OB's or a lost ball.

Most of those holes were hit a good 2nd drive and hit the green. Lost 12 strokes right there.

I feel like nothing has changed about my swing, so I dont know if some hidden injury is impairing something. I usually shoot +7 to +9 on these 8 holes. Wish I could afford lessons....
