I have the same Ping My Day putter that I bought about 40 years ago.

I've been thinking about getting a new one, but my first inclination is to work more on my stroke and worry less about the club I'm putting with.

I've had the same putter for 10 years. Was fitted for it when I was 17 and have used it almost exclusively since. I have been through a couple different grip styles with it.

1st 3 years, I went through 4 - 5 putters, experimented with a few more.   I still have 5 putters at home, and donated the rest.  Since then, I had settled with the current putter and had it for 2.5+ years.  It's the only putter I use now.

I really like the Odyssey Tank Cruiser #7 so I doubt I'll replace it unless it breaks.  I voted 1-2 years because this will be the 2nd year I'm using it.

I voted 2-4 years. Played with a Cleveland blade style putter when I first started, then switched to an Odyssey #9 a few years ago. I'm currently playing with a putter I won in a contest and have been since last year. I was tempted to get this Nickent heavy putter when the season started because I controlled distance so well with it, but I think I'll hold out for an Edel and never look at putters again.

Pretty much every year. I lose confidence in my putter after about a year of use.

Switch it up if I lose confidence. I the last 15 years I've had 3 putters, current one for about 7.

LOL, no more likely I'd throw it in the lake ala Rory.  With my luck I'd go to break it and I'd end up stabbing myself in the leg with the busted shaft.

I have a bunch of putters - stick with one until it cools off, then try another ... Just haven't ever found "the one" that I have utmost confidence in

I've had an Edel for 6 years. Did not think I'd need to replace it if fit properly and kept the same stroke, setup, etc. I found out not much later that the guy who fit me was a bit of a charlatan but I had hoped he had done club fitting well. I have fiddled a lot with the putter in terms of weight and counterbalancing over time. Some of it was me, some of it was the fit.

Last weekend, I asked my new Edel fitter, also my instructor, for a formal fitting. We went on the SAM to see what was happening with the old putter - an anser style Rogue - we cleared up some issues and then went to aiming. I was left and right with the putter. He put a E-1 (torque balance) mallet in my hands, and 3x in a row, the laser was at or over the target. We went on the SAM after a couple of reaction drills and worked on the issues. The e-1 closed a bit less than the traditional putter, and I'd found that I did not have much of an arc going back and tended to open the club slightly going back.  We corrected the issues and putts were going center - SAM showed a consistent and technically correct stroke and proper contact. Aiming it was much easier...

So an e-1 is coming...no sightlines, just a dot on top.

What is the torque balance thingie? One can correct the twisting themselves with a traditional putter, it's just that with the torque balanced putter it seems an easier fix. It's an odd look at first, so odd it seems distracting. After taking a demo home for 4 days and practicing with it, the "look" is so plain that it is no longer distracting. I'd say it focuses you more, similar to an anser style without lines. If you can aim it correctly ...

I'm not thrilled about getting a new putter, but I know its aim is true.

I don't know. I had my first putter that I bought used at a RD tent sale in 2006. Then in summer 2007 got a second from a friend. In 2009 or maybe 2010, I bought a Cleveland Classics putter. In 2012, I built a club from components. In 2014 I got a putter to review. So that's an average of about one every two years since starting, although I do alternate among the last three quite frequently. Total spent: about $200 total. Plan going forward: buying an Edel this summer, probably won't replace it.

Not sure about this one. I went through a few putters fairly quickly before settling on the current one. Had it about two years, and expect it to stick around. I voted 2-4 years.

    • Is it? I bought the Stack radar to replace my PRGR based on what Stack told me! When I am swinging for speed, the PRGR would miss 50%-80% of my backswings due to a higher speed. The stack seldom misses those- at least for me.
    • As an analyst by nature, I would like to compare the scores under both systems. It is something we can easily do if we have the data. I actually thought the new system was less fair to those whose game was on the decline - like mine! Old: Best 10 of last 20 scores with the .96 multiplier. Course handicap excluded course rating and overall par. New: Best 8/20. Course handicap includes course rating -par. My understanding is Stableford caps scores at Net double bogey like stroke play. If so, handicap should be slower to rise because you are only using 8 versus 10 scores. If I am missing something, I am curious enough to  want to understand what that may be. My home course tees that I play are 72.1/154 now. My best score out here is 82. When my game started to decline, my handicap didn’t budge for 13 rounds because of good scores in my first 8! I know I am an anomaly but my handicap has increased almost 80% in the past few years (with only a few rounds this year). For a few months I knew I was losing every bet because my game was nowhere near my handicap. I suspect I have steamrolled a few nuances but that shouldn’t matter much. When I have modeled this with someone playing the same tees and course, one good round, or return to form, will immediately reduce the handicap by some amount.
