Worked on hitting up on the driver at the range. Also worked on not rolling my wrists so much in the backswing in front of a mirror, inside, & with a club.

Did my usual key #1 practice at the range before playing 18. Scored 32 but left so many out on the course!

Hit the range before teeing off. Worked on Keys 1 & 2 with the driver to try and improve ball flight and also worked on short irons and wedges to fix this hook I developed because I'm coming across with a closed face due to my grip and too much forward shaft lean.

Spent about 20 mins on the putting green working on distance control and start lines before my round today.  I was hitting short straight putts to start then went to 10-15 footers.  I also changed targets after every few putts.  I actually putt pretty well on the course today I had a few mis reads and It took a bit to get used to the fast greens but all and all a decent day.

Practice my aim point on a local practice green ... have I ever mention I love aim point?? For once I have a clue on where ... given I hit my line, with the right speed, it is simply a thing of beauty to behold, as it slowing curves into the hole from a 3 grade ... I call it putting porn! However, with that said I don't even tell my buds ... because when I miss hit, its a ration of shit about putting lessons. People don't understand that it does not teach "how" to putt, but rather your aim point ... get it ... aim point? Been practicing my ass off on putting with without miss hitting. Also spent time on the 15-20 yard bunker shots ...

Got my five minutes in today before my lesson arrived. Was closer to 30 minutes.

I first started with my 9I as short irons have felt worse lately. I finished with some six-irons.

Because I'm playing more, I focused specifically on a feel I could take to the course that might only get me a B+ swing or something, but which was simple enough to do on the golf course. If I put it into words it sounds so much "bigger" and "more" than it really is, but here goes:

  • Bend right elbow to start the backswing as I create more axis tilt (feel only, no more axis tilt is actually created) and turn behind the ball.
  • Bump my hip left and simultaneously throw the clubhead down and behind me at the top with my right wrist and thumb as I shove my hands out at the ball. The "out at the ball" is important or I'm likely to be steeper and toe it.
  • If I have to simplify from there, it's "turn behind, bump hips, hands out to ball."

Again, sounds like 10x more than it really is.

3 hours at the practice range. 70% work done with 9-SW. Practiced my dispersion study but not able to go out to measure shots. I hit to 60yds, 100yds, 120yds, 130yds, 145&147yds. I definitely miss left-short left more than anything.

I don't know what to call it, but I practiced the drill Boogielicious posted in my swing thread. I also practiced putting inside. Worked on picking a distance and trying to hit it there consistently.

Shopping for a used iron set at a local Golfsmith, found a set of irons, then spent at least 10 minutes on their test range working of getting a feel for the clubs compared to my current set. Ran the whole 4iron through gap wedge jst focusing on good contact with unfamiliar clubs. Left without the clubs due to disparity between the PGA Valueguide, their asking price, and their offer on my trade-ins. But I got some practice in so all is good.

Got to the course earlier than usual for today's round so I could do some practice as part of my warm-up. Their warm-up is 25 balls; I took about 20 minutes for the first 10. Address right, get to A2 correctly, reset. A1 to A2 to A3 correctly, reset. A1 to A4, check everything, reset and do it again. Was it good that time? Hit the practice ball. Then various clubs for the remaining 15, without the full routine. I hit 5 GIR and another 4 near-GIR. Had some weird bounces, including hitting a beautiful tee shot that hit a tree and stopped. Sometimes you just can't win. Also had some poor putting, but that happens. Excited for tomorrow. Debating going to do more practice tonight with a full small bucket (30 balls) at my local course.

Worked on getting my wrists into a better position through the backswing. Some very deliberate swings into the net for about twenty minutes before I headed out to the course.

Mizuno is introducing new technology with their JPX One fairway woods and drivers. The new tech for golf but used tech for Mizuno since it is found in their baseball side of the business, is Nanoalloy. Nanoalloy is a microscopic polymer layer put on the face of their titanium driver. What this layer does is change the elasticity of the driver face and increases ball speed over a larger area of the clubface. Adding a bit more elasticity with this layer, they are conserving the golf balls energy from the impact.  Due to USGA rules, this technology falls under their coating regulations. Which add a correction factor to the ball speed testing done for conforming golf clubs. This rule was introduced when Taylormade went to their carbon clubface. Which I didn't know existed.  I am sure that center strikes are at the USGA limits like all other drivers. This has my interest. I am always, "window shopping", for new golf equipment 😉
