I poses this question in another thread...for everyone saying it's the greatest or or one of the greatest tournaments ever, would you still be talking that way today if Kevin Kisner had sunk one of his putts on 18? Because honestly, I think what made the tournament so great was who won. If Kisner wins, I think this thread isn't touched today, except by maybe one of the six members of his fan club.

What do you say about the 2002 U.S. Open then?

Welcome to the Big Apple. But I get your point, while the fans were maybe the worst I remember this past weekend, don't think that should be part of the criteria to determine whether a tournament should be a major.

Anyone else think it was kinda sh*tty of his mom and girlfriend to leave early when they thought he was out of it?

Didn't even give it a thought until I read your post. It looks to me that Fowler has a great relationship with his mom  - I don't think she dissed him whatsoever.

I agree on the fans, no class, it was like a high school cafeteria, no way can this be a major with that kind of riff-raff in the gallery.

Sergio, you just knew he would choke, I think he knew it too, I feel for the guy, as much as I like seeing Fowler win I think I was really rooting for Garcia.

Actually . .I was expecting him to choke . .just waiting for him to choke and he totally surprised me by not choking.  That putt he dropped from like 40 feet on 17 was incredibly clutch.  He didn't make any of his typical "Sergio-blunders" after that.  It did seem like he just kind of ran out of gas in the playoff . . but obviously that's highly speculative on my part . .he played really well.  Both my wife and I were commenting at the end how these guys are all playing well . .Ricky had to win it . .nobody crapped out and gave it to him.  I love it when that happens vs the leader giving up 4 strokes on the day to eventually leave with a top 10 finish.

Of course not. The same way the 2008 US Open wouldn't have been so amazing had Tiger missed his putt on 18.

It's what Rickie did to get into the playoff ( birdie, eagle, birdie, birdie ), then again what he did in the playoff that made it amazing.

Regardless of who it is that does it, seeing such spectacular play to win is what makes it amazing - and it was Rickie this time who did just that.

If Fowler and Kisner's roles were reversed and Kisner did exactly what Fowler did - it would have still been just as amazing, but he didn't

For some reason, Rickie can pull this off as can Jonas Blixt and a few others...but can't see Dufner or Kirk wearing this stuff.

Yuck. Wore the same pair of pants all week? Gross. ;-)

I want to know if he's at all superstitious, and will now consider abandoning the orange on Sundays?

Agree it would have been just as amazing. Unfortunately, it just wouldn't get the recognition and no one would really be talking about it. No disrespect to Kisner, but we're starting to get spoiled again, I think, with Spieth, Rory and Fowler really thrusting themselves to the top of the stage lately. We want the stars to shine. I could be wrong on this, but I don't see Kisner as a future star in the game. Maybe a 2 or 3 win guy showing up on leaderboards every now and then. He comes across as a bit boring to me, but I give him all the respect in the world for the way he played and handled himself under pressure, especially when no one in this country except his family members were rooting for him.

Looks like he went commando as well. That should get another "yuck" from you as well.

He was wearing socks and they are not shown so I am going to assume his undies fall in the same category. But I have noted for the future that you think about the underwear other men are wearing (or not wearing).

yet you can't assume he wore a different pair of white pants every round?

He also wore pink shoes on Sunday, which weren't shown in that shot. I did notice that kinda goofy hat he wore on Sat. Thought that might become the new standard but he was back to the flat-bill by Sun.

Ha . .yeah, I'm gonna buy me some of Rickie's key "looks" . . cause I really want to see what it's like to be punched in the face by strangers, lol.

Other than the hat I think most people under 25 years old can pull off that look pretty easily.
