The rules are the same as last month:

  • Post every day during the month above. No back-dating or pre-dating posts or practice sessions.
  • Detail what you did for at least five minutes of practice (indoors or out, with or without golf balls, etc.).
  • At the end of the month, everyone who has posted every day will earn a special badge they can proudly display throughout the following month, at which time a new challenge for that month will begin.

Enjoy and practice hard!

I'm rolling into this challenge off the back of the May one. 20 mins today, in the nets. Working on the centered hip turn drill that Mike gave me. Hit about 17 balls with a 6 iron.

Okay, Back in the saddle. Let's see if I can do better than last month...

6/1: 5 minutes doing slow swings in the mirror focusing on a steady head, where my weight is during the swing. Also worked on my putting setup (eyes over the ball, looking straight out instead of down my nose).

Hopefully I'll be as disciplined this month. 5 minutes putting practice when I got home from work. Focused on bead. It's raining otherwise I'd do a distance control drill at the course practice area which I think I need to focus more on.

5 minutes mirror work on backswing only.  Slow and moderate speed movements that focus on trying to keep the club from getting inside too early in the backswing.

Let's try this again: 6/1/15: Played 9 today with my wife, I've been working a lot on "rocking the baby" with my putting stroke, I even will pick up Alina sometimes to get the visual and the feel... But today I worked on getting a little more weight forward in my pitching, and a wider arc with my full swing motion... It paid off on the par-5s today(1 and 9)... I also read LSW again this morning... Don't know that if that counts as practice...

    • Is it? I bought the Stack radar to replace my PRGR based on what Stack told me! When I am swinging for speed, the PRGR would miss 50%-80% of my backswings due to a higher speed. The stack seldom misses those- at least for me.
    • As an analyst by nature, I would like to compare the scores under both systems. It is something we can easily do if we have the data. I actually thought the new system was less fair to those whose game was on the decline - like mine! Old: Best 10 of last 20 scores with the .96 multiplier. Course handicap excluded course rating and overall par. New: Best 8/20. Course handicap includes course rating -par. My understanding is Stableford caps scores at Net double bogey like stroke play. If so, handicap should be slower to rise because you are only using 8 versus 10 scores. If I am missing something, I am curious enough to  want to understand what that may be. My home course tees that I play are 72.1/154 now. My best score out here is 82. When my game started to decline, my handicap didn’t budge for 13 rounds because of good scores in my first 8! I know I am an anomaly but my handicap has increased almost 80% in the past few years (with only a few rounds this year). For a few months I knew I was losing every bet because my game was nowhere near my handicap. I suspect I have steamrolled a few nuances but that shouldn’t matter much. When I have modeled this with someone playing the same tees and course, one good round, or return to form, will immediately reduce the handicap by some amount.
