Phil doesn't have a good game for foursomes and doesn't play particularly well in cool weather. There are any # of different pairings I think Davis should have put out this morning instead of them...I don't see this match going the way of the US.

 

You both seem right about Phil not being strongest in the format, but that team did okay against the Euro team's best player.

But Davis Love's pairings don't look too idiotic now. Seems these guys don't necessarily stink at foursomes.

Maybe its not so much the pairings, as it is how the players actually perform.

Sure that matters, but it's a little bit of both.

Walker and Zach's strengths / weaknesses were a good complementary match for the foursome format today.

In the 'old days' a pairing of Furyk and Toms just wasn't a strong choice for the fourball format where ballstriking (including length) ability is more important than world rank based on stroke play.
