What'd You Shoot Today?

I love this game! :-D

49+41=90

Home course, 6900 yards, 73.2/133

Front nine was just awful and I even had to use a mulligan, didn't get to warm up and just could not make super good contact with anything.

I hit 1 green and 2 fairways on the front nine and did not one putt once, had 18 putts on the front.

Back nine I got it together and was doing really good until a triple on the 17th but I hit 5 greens and 3 fairways. Had 15 putts and actually got up and down a few times. Overall not an awful day but need to get more consistent. My new swing change has me hitting the ball farther and I was 165 out today with the wind behind me and I hit an 8 to the very back of the green which was around 180 yards. Was amazed I could hit an 8 that far!

If you are serious about golf, you can't take a mulligan .... :naughty: If you are not, take all the mulligans you need  .

I didn't strike the ball well today, my short game was the difference today.  Eagled the 510yd par 5 14th hole, also doubled the par 5 16th and finished par- par to conserve my 79.  Normally I would be pretty happy with a 79, but I didn't feel very confident out there.  I also was 4 over for the round after my eagle on the 14th hole, and then I started thinking about my total score.  Next two holes went bogey- double bogey, and I really buckled down to finish par par.  I need to stop thinking about my total score during my round and just focus on hitting quality golf shots, it definitely got in my head.  It was bitter sweet today, but I'm excited on how my short game is progressing.

82. Was even through 7, then went double double and didn't really get anything going from there

Played with what was the best female golfer I've ever been paired with. She shot 79 and drove a green ( 287 yards ) - crazy good.

Played with my bud at Morgan Hill in Easton, PA. Beautiful Memorial Day outing. White tees 6047 yards 69.5/127 Blue tees are 6400 yards 71.2/130. I'm hesitant to play anything much further then 6000 yards until I eliminate 5-6 absolute 'lost stroke/penalty/lost ball" shots. But maybe I'm not thinking about this the right way? 47 on front. 45 on back. 92 total. So my friend is not necessarily the most serious golfer which makes it tough for me. Sometimes he forgets to write our scores after the hole; sometimes he 'forgets' lost balls (for himself), and sometimes his lies improve. I play by the rules (as best as I know them) and penalize myself for OB, lost ball, duff, skull, wiff, etc. Today I lost 2 balls with a few chunk shots that I probably kept the same club to hit. Also 4 putt on one hole. I need more people to play with or I'm going to have to join a CC. I find it difficult to fork up that kind of dough for access to quality golf with like-minded people. The social, networking aspect is overpriced. Maybe I'm overthinking a bit and should give it a shot. Perhaps the guys I play with will become friends? Also, I need to keep my own score or invest in GG or Accros. The additional data would be a tremendous benefit as well. Oh, and a small rules book for on-the-course rulings ;-) Happy Memorial Day! And 'thank you' to everyone who served/is serving!

I had out of town guests this weekend and tee times, but the weather didn't cooperate.   Saturday was my only round because we got lucky to get a 4hr break in the rain.

Winterstone Golf Club: Par72 course.....70.7Cr 132slope

44- 36 =80

It was a cool damp morning and I needed a 9 hole warm-up!!  LOL    Aside from butchering a couple holes on the front, I didn't play too poorly.  I even threw away a couple pars on the back, but was fortunate to make 3 birdies to offset the blunders on the inward 9.

As we went to bed saturday night, the hourly forecast was 80-100% rain all morning so we opted to sleep in.  As it turned out, there was a dry window and we could have played, but we enjoyed sleeping in instead.   I didn't play today either.....I stayed home to see-off the company and then wave 2 came in on my wifes side, so no golf for me today either.

As far as memorial weekend golf goes, this weekend rates a 3 on a 1-10 scale because we only got to play once!!

Shot twice today: 96 (morning) & 93 (afternoon).   Missed a hole in one by 8 inches.   3 or 4 more rolls would have done it.  This was the closest I ever got to hole in one.   Previous closest was about a foot.

Played the front 9 at my home course today. 70.8/127 6400yd

Shot a 3 over, 39.  I struck my irons very well but had trouble finding the fairway with my driver.  Doubled the 3rd hole due to blading a 20 yard pitch shot into the green side bunker.  All in all, a satisfying night of golf with 7 pars, 1 bogey, and 1 double bogey.

Front 9 Stats:

Total Putts - 16 (1.78 putts per hole)

Fairways Hit - 2/7 (28.6%)

Green in Reg - 5/9 (55.6%

Played Belleview Biltmore for the first time yesterday.  I loved the place!  This course was probably the closest I've come to playing a tournament ready course.  There were a ton of fairway bunkers, deep greenside bunkers, deep collection areas around the greens, and significant undulations on the quick greens.  It really was a test of placement and recovery.  I will absolutely be playing here again!  My score wasn't too bad.  I shot an 88, but my putting was not so good with 38 putts.  However, my FIR was 71.4% with the back 9 FIR being 100%, and my GIR was 39%.  Course stats from the tees played were 67.4/118 5706 Yds.

Played Waterleaf yesterday (Bradenton fl). Hit it great . Shot a 74 from the gold tees (all the way back). Short game and putting are still a work in progress. Hit my new driver and irons good though. Great golf course.

Played a local VERY  NICE course yesterday - Troy Burne.

I think likely the worst scoring/hitting game of the year.  But the score card was soaked and we didn't keep score.

I did have a very reasonable length eagle putt (missed it) on a short Par 5 where I hit a great drive and a decent approach shot (only pulled it a little bit).

I was missing like crazy, and this course isn't friendly to missing your lines....

Gotta lot of practice out of fairway bunkers and did surprisingly well with those

can't wait to go back.  It's really a course that's right up my preferences....

Blue Ridge Country Club 70.5/131 Friday - An eagle and 3 birdies and finished with an even par 70. Holed out from 84 yards for eagle on #11. Sunday - Awful ball striking and finished with a 79. Today - Much better ball striking round. Finished with 75.

After playing senior tees my last few times, I tried teeing it up from the blues today...

I shot 42-41=83 at River Forest CC in Freeport, PA.

1 birdie, 4 pars and 13 bogies (ugh!) - 2 GIR and 30 putts.

My short game was average at best, after a good month of May.

The club finally allowed the rough to grow a little longer this week, and it really made you place a premium on FIR's.

Played Augusta Pines yesterday from the tips at 7050 yards but with the wind and the soaked grass it felt like 7400. Shot a 92- 48-44. Didn't get to warm up so my irons and driver were awful on the front nine but short game saved me then on the back my irons showed up and driver wasn't bad but short game failed me. The course is usually super nice but it had been to wet to mow the grass so the fairways were rough and the rough was super thick rough which sucked.

Played my home course today from the tips 6900, 73.2

45-42

Didn't get to warm up because of the closed range again. Honestly did not think I would play today after the worst floods in Houston history but the course was in great shape. Very little standing water and overall not bad at all. With all the bayous on the course and around it drains super nice. I played alright but could of been a lot better. Didn't make any putts on the front then on the back nine I made 3 10-15 footers in a row for par. Had a couple of blow up holes but overall good day. Just need to get more consistent!

Played Hangman Valley Golf Club for the first time.  Playing an Am tournament there next weekend so wanted to see the course.  Played the white tees and shot 80 with a 10 on a par 5 (two drives OB).  Overall, 2 birdies, 8 pars, 7 bogeys and a quintuple bogey.  8/14 fairways, 10/18 greens and 33 putts.

would have been much nicer without the 5 over par on 1 hole... but that's golf.

Pretty good score at Morgan Hill - that's one of the toughest courses I know of with all the elevation changes and tree lined fairways.    Suggestion ... book single tee times for only yourself on golfnow.com - you will get teamed with random people, the majority of which are pretty good players and you will learn from playing with them.    I'm a relatively new golfer - I've found if I'm playing with a much better / more experienced player, they never object to me asking questions or picking their brain with regard to swing advice.    One more suggestion - check out Berkleigh in Kutztown - it's probably closer for you than Morgan Hill - fantastic open course, and fairly CHEAP on golfnow.com
