Just heard that Alan Rickman passed away today.

He played Snape in Harry Potter. He also played Hans in Die Hard.

One of my favorite Die Hard scenes is when Hans runs off a bunch of terrorist groups to be freed on the phone. One of his buddies mouths the name of one of the esoteric ones in befuddlement. Then Hans covers the phone mouthpiece and whispers, "I read about them in Time magazine." Classic.

He was great in Galaxy Quest and Dogma too.

One of my favorite actors - always plays a great villain and stole the show imho in Robin Hood opposite Costner.  Plus he made playing the cello cool in Truly Madly Deeply.

He was fantastic at villain roles but good in others as well.  I never thought he really got his due as an actor, he was mavellous.  I really liked him in Die Hard and also another movie they don't talk about but he was great in was as the villain in Quigley Down Under.

Didn't see this.  Exactly, he had a knack for making you dislike him as a villain and convincing you he was a scummy bad guy but with the rare ability to make you laugh too.  He could always do a scene or two, a quip or something that makes you laugh about just what a bad person his character is.

Loved Alan Rickman, great actor. He will be missed.

Galaxy Quest is awesome, just watched that the other day.  Loved Dogman, Die Hard, Harry Potter, he was also very good in Bottle Shock.

Huh, going to make the holidays in 2016 a little tougher, since he's the villain in my favorite Christmas movie.   Others have already mentioned Dogma and Galaxy Quest too, so don't forget those either.

    • I know you guys were discussing this like a year ago. But, ironically I just had this discussion with my brother-in-law. We literally just did one of these. I'd always used the "Slow-Cook, Rest, and Sear" Method. But my bother-in-law was convinced the "5-Min/lb, 500 degree" method was the way. So, we gave it a go. I have to say it came out great.  I have a 25 year old, electric oven, GE brand... Not sure if that matters, but it came out great. ... Of course we stressed that nobody was to open the oven.   I don't make these all that often so, I'm not sure if I can fully recommend one method or the other, because without doing a Pepsi Challenge, I'd say both ways come out great. 👍😁👍
