There was an old thread on this, but it only had a few hits. Since we have a fun thread reviling Christmas songs, I thought I would start a rival thread on which are your favorite songs or albums.

Mine:

Vince Guaraldi's A Charlie Brown Christmas - love the jazz piano style of this artist. Favorite song on the album is the instrumental Christmas Time is Here. Serene and melancholy at the same time.

The Boston Pops - Nutcracker Suite. When my parents put this album on when I was a kid, we knew it was really Christmas time.

Other favs: Brian Setzer's version of the Nutcracker Suite. Nat King Cole's version of Mel Torme's Christmas Song. Jingle Bell Rock- Bill Haley and Rockin' Around the Christmas Tree - Brenda Lee. Winter Wonderland and Sleigh Ride.

Scott

Titleist, Edel, Scotty Cameron Putter, Snell - AimPoint - Evolvr - MirrorVision

Silent night for me.  A good reminder of the true meaning of Christmas.

I like them all, in measured doses.

Except the rap ones.

Vince Guaraldi songs are classics. I like the new She & Him album. Below is Winter Wonderland with a slide guitar. Here's the whole album. My favorite is Diana Krall's Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas, her wayback 1995 version.

Every year I get into my Christmas mix making.  I started doing it when I was in my mid 20's . .so now almost 20 years later, there are mostly just small adds/subtracts.  I'm not finding amazing new Christmas songs every year, lol.

Anyway - here is the greatest "Cool Christmas Mix" song of all time:

Other tracks that make the cut just about every year:

Anders Lewin - Funky Christmas

The Ventures - Blue Christmas

Eels - Everything's Gonna Be Cool This Christmas

Some that are great but don't make it every year (due to getting played-out):

James Brown - Soulful Christmas

Otis Redding - White Christmas

The Ramones - Merry Christmas (I don't wanna fight tonight)

  • 1 year later...

Merry Christmas all.

I was searching for the other threads on this topic. I know there were some longer ones but can't find them.

Even using a Google search.

I use old Taylor Made clubs from eBay and golf shops.

Always fond of Nat King Coles Christmas album and the two that Johnny Mathis put together. I know that’s not a song but those albums remind me of my childhood Christmasses. Remind me of decorating our tree (my dad would always put those records on) as we did decorating.

    • Day 58: a little bit of putting practice. Working on bead and making sure the hands are higher at set up.
    • I too think a better driver usually has an edge in this situation. Mechanically, irons are shorter and need less leverage and hence a good driver who has good leverage control over the longer stick has an advantage in learning and controlling the shorter sticks. I think descending AOA for irons is more matter of ball position at address than mechanics difference. An inferior driver will also lose more shots to penalty areas and OOBs. Fewer GIRs with irons not as damaging, especially with reasonably competent short game. In short, driver is king in golf.
    • Day 13. September 13th. 2024 Okay so today was putting drills on the mat day. I used gates, and I used the putting mirror. Finally I finished up but using the perfect putt.
    • Woof - fascinating question. So I think it’s a question of whether it’s easier to transition a good iron swing to the driver or a good driver swing to the irons. Speaking personally (which is really all I have to go on) I’ve typically throughout my life been a better iron player but my driving has improved massively lately with my iron play getting a bit worse.    I think it’s probably easier to get your irons better if you’re a good driver than the other way but I’d say it’s pretty close. Took me years and a lot of work to get my driving better again. But I’m about 60% certain if that. I’d be very unsurprised if I’m wrong. I would obviously defer to people who’ve seen both and worked with both.    I’ve heard both sides of it. Driver being longer means you have more time to fix stuff, but you have a smaller margin for error because more side spin to back spin with driver so it moves more if your impact conditions are off. Can also get away with more variance in club delivery with driver (since you have a tee) vs iron where ground impact is very destructive. I suspect at the end of the day the answer really is “it depends”.
    • Day 265: 9/13/24 Practiced prior to tournament today. Good session.
