Works out pretty well for those of us here out west - at least for today.  Tiger tees off at 8:15pm our time.

Tomorrow (well Friday actually), it appears as though his group tees off at 12:35am.

I'm expecting you to stay up and provide a complete report for we East Coasters for our morning read. :-P

I've never noticed it before, but there is a hole-by-hole tab on the leaderboard page for the European Tour. It takes a few seconds to load, but IMO it is a really cool feature.

Here is what I call todays most interesting round, Marc Warren who is at +6, with 6 birdies today.

Players play, tough players win!

I dont think Tiger  makes the cut here, either. I hope he does though.

Looks like you called it.

I'm a bit surprised how poorly he is scoring given he led the field in birdies at the Hero. I expected to see him make few birdies to offset some poor holes.

Kinda sad to see Tiger play like this really. One or two rounds, okay. Thats golf. But to consistently shoot over par isn't even professional golf.  I hope he keeps playing, but i dont think he will ever win again.

At this point in Tiger's career, I don't think the score is that important. What's important is, that at end of each round, he is able to walk away pain free.

The longer he can stay pain free,  the quicker he will be able to gain more  confidence in the repair job, and then really focus on his scoring.

I think his back is bothering him again. I bet he WDs by the middle of round two.

I did watch through about 10 holes or so, then I was tired and Tiger was playing so poorly that I didn't have any drive to keep watching.  His first tee shot set the tone, I think.  He ended up 70 yards to the left of the fairway and ended up with a bogey on a 540 yard par 5.

One or two rounds, okay, but three, that's where you draw the line between "okay" and "sad"?

Huh??

I agree.

And his swing looks a little odd, but not particularly like his back hurts him when he swings. It's when he's walking that it looks worst, IMO. Very stiff walking, and getting out of a bunker was almost painful to me.

I'll take that bet.

What makes you say that?  I haven't seen anything to support that.

I actually wondered the same thing during the first hole he played because he seemed to be doing that walk that a person with a bad back tends to do - trying extra hard to stand very straight with good posture, and just being kinda "gingerly" in general.

But I never saw any issues with his swing (pain issues I mean, he did have plenty of other issues though ;)) or his posture after that so I think he is fine, injury-wise.

In his post round interview he said he wasn't in any pain.  Made no excuses whatsoever.  Struck me as humble and appropriate.

Yeah, after those first couple of shots, I forgot about it because he didn't show any pain or discomfort after any shots.  (Not counting the emotional pain he inflicted on himself with some of those shots - notably a 100 yard wedge shot he hit only 88 yards or so into a pond on 18) :P

I watched the whole round. He just looks like he is struggling with the timing of his swing. Looks like a guy who is thinking mechanics, and not so much playing shots. He putted poorly, by Tiger standards, and really never hit it close all day.

The look on his face, and the ginger step he takes after this swing. Granted, maybe that look on his face was from the fact that he duck hooked the ball into the next fairway. :-O

I'm hoping he's OK, but would still be on the WD side of the bet.

We were watching part of it last night and my wife says (about Tiger) "he looks old". To which I replied, "he is our age, sweetheart".

    • Eh. He broke ONE of Tiger's records. Youngest to be ranked #1 in AJGA. It didn't help that Tiger's birthday is in late December, or that Tiger didn't play many AJGA events before he was 15. Did he do any of these things? TIGER WOODS' AMATEUR VICTORIES YEAR WIN(S) 1984 10-and- under Junior World Golf Championships Boys    1985 10-and- under Junior World Golf Championships Boys    1988 Boy's 11-12 Junior World Golf Championships   1989 Boy's 13-14 Junior World Golf Championships   1990 Boy's 13-14 Junior World Golf Championships, Insurance Youth Golf Classic   1991 U.S. Junior Amateur, Boys 15–17 Junior World Golf Championships, Orange Bowl International Junior Look at some other AJGA Players of the Year. How many of these names do you recognize? A few, for sure. I assure y'all, I'm not trying to pee in your Cheerios. I just don't get what the point is. Okay. I get that, then. Thanks.
    • Day 56: 4/19/2024 Okay, even though I'll be teeing it up in a tournament in less than a week. I couldn't find time to get to the range today.  I spent time on the indoor putting mat.  And I spent time in front of the mirror with my 7 iron. Then again later with the driver.  I also thoroughly cleaned all my clubs.
    • Just stumbled onto the article.  Totally random and thought it might be interested to hear other thoughts. maybe I am tired of all the LIV crap and  this just caught my attention.
    • Day 1: Spent some time hitting some balls. Working on my hips and a “soft” and straight trail arm.
