I heard he was trying to lose weight yesterday on the broadcast. He looks like a junkie as skinny as he is getting.

I just saw this.  I'm on the floor laughing!  "The Nostril Cannon."  OMG, that's really funny!! And....That's exactly what he did, and if memory serves me correctly, he played the wind wrong and almost got it all over his pants!  (I'm back on the floor again!)

The hardest part of watching The Masters, besides the fact that I'm not there and am also not playing golf, is remembering that there aren't planned restroom breaks the way other sports broadcasts have.

Nice par by Phil on #9.

I have a bet going with a guy from work that Pieters would be in the top ten Sunday evening. Still a long time to go but he's doing fine at the moment.
Had a bit of a bad back nine yesterday after leading -5 but he seems to be getting back into the groove.

I hate to say it, and no doubt most here will hate me for it, but the tricked-up crazy golf style greens at Augusta are ridiculous.

They are great. Golf isn't meant to be played on pancake, fuzzy greens.

It looks like Pieters or Fowler could push the lead up to 5-under, but it doesn't appear like that will affect the cut line, as the +6 players will still be within the top 50.

I buy into most of the Augusta mystique, but the naming of the different holes after trees/flowers is soooooo pretentious...

The Mid-Am champion made the cut for the first time in Masters' history. Which is pretty incredible, when you think about it.

I actually like that.  There are a few courses near here that do things like that.  Gives some personality to each.  One nine-hole where I learned to play were mostly named after top military officials (generals and admirals, I think;  been a while since I thought about who each was named for) from U.S. History.  I thought that was cool too.

Phil had Bones pull a flag on an approach shot.  Again.  I hope it's for show and he doesn't actually think it's effective.

I was wondering about this. Do you think he does it because hes throwing it past the hole and he doesn't want it to hit high on the stick and spin off the green like Rory did earlier?

I go by Pat or Patrick. Been called a lot worse so I don't mind either.

It's the jacket presentation bit that does it for me. So creepy

    • Day 11: did mirror work for a while. Worked on the same stuff.
    • I'm not sure you're calculating the number of strokes you would need to give correctly. The way I figure it, a 6.9 index golfer playing from tees that are rated 70.8/126 would have a course handicap of 6. A 20-index golfer playing from tees that are rated 64/106 would have a course handicap of 11. Therefore, based on the example above, assuming this is the same golf course and these index & slope numbers are based on the different tees, you should only have to give 5 strokes (or one stroke on the five most difficult holes if match play) not 6. Regardless, I get your point...the average golfer has no understanding of how the system works and trying to explain it to people, who haven't bothered to read the documentation provided by either the USGA or the R&A, is hopeless. In any case, I think the WHS as it currently is, does the best job possible of leveling the playing field and I think most golfers (obviously, based on the back & forth on this thread, not all golfers) at least comprehend that.
    • Day 115 12-5 Skills work tonight. Mostly just trying to be more aware of the shaft and where it's at. Hit foam golf balls.
    • Day 25 (5 Dec 25) - total rain day, worked on tempo and distance control.
    • Yes it's true in a large sample like a tournament a bunch of 20 handicaps shouldn't get 13 strokes more than you. One of them will have a day and win. But two on one, the 7 handicap is going to cover those 13 strokes the vast majority of the time. 20 handicaps are shit players. With super high variance and a very asymmetrical distribution of scores. Yes they shoot 85 every once in a while. But they shoot 110 way more often. A 7 handicap's equivalent is shooting 74 every once in a while but... 86 way more often?
