Nice @Pretzel!

I'll get a photo of my old LP Recording Studio.

Here are my acoustic guitars:

What is the guitar on the right there? I haven't previously seen an acoustic with a sound hole like that. How different does it sound from the traditional sound hole directly in the center of the guitar?

It is a McPherson acoustic.  The sound hole makes the bass E and the A strings more powerful.  Also the neck does not touch the top and the braces inside never touch each other inside.  I will get some photos for you.  All of this makes for a guitar that sounds pretty amazing and pretty loud like you are playing through an amplifier but with the great sound.  Many of the top country stars are using them.  They are not cheap though.  I may also know a guy who makes them. ;-)

Unfortunately I do not, I have an uncle who makes these.  My grandfather made guitars as well.

Thanks for all the information on those guitars, that was really interesting. The artwork on/with those inlays is absolutely incredible.

My band just commissioned an Epiphone Casino for me to play ONE song during our show season.  I'll be sporting a John Lennon model and playing the parts played by George Harrison on Hello Goodbye.

And I'll tell you what, the guitar sounds EXACTLY like George Harrison parts in the song.  Just incredible what playing the correct guitar used during recording does for the accuracy and authenticity of the tone in the song.  My only beef is having to lug along, prepare and keep another guitar ready to play during our summer shows.

I'm getting lazy in my old age.  Can't I just play my favorite stratocaster all night?

Love the Cardinal red!  Here's my 2015 Epi Les Paul Standard, which I modded by upgrading the electronics.  I replaced the tone pots with push/pulls so I could split the seymour duncan pearly gates neck and distortion bridge humbuckers.  Huge improvement over the alnico classics that came with her.

Don't have a guitar picture but was curious about the best approach for someone that wants to learn to play. I know nothing about reading music, but have a guitar at home I want to learn to play.

It really depends on your objectives.  But playing guitar is ultimate about playing songs so you're going to want to learn songs.

Learn a few chords (specifically G, C, D, Em, Am) and get fluid with changing from one to another while strumming.  Find some songs that use some of those chords, there are tons of them, pick some you like and learn them.  Strum and sing.  This is how many start.

Rocksmith 2014 is pretty fun, especially if you want to learn to play songs as you progress.  Marty Schwartz' youtube lessons/pointers are really easy to understand as well.
