Huh? Seriously?

For every drunk a$$hole who can dream up an "epic" video, there's an idiot friend who will go along with it.

Believe what you want, man.

I'm not willing to think that all of these videos represent something completely staged and planned by all participants.

Certainly, some people are pricks enough to hurt unknowing victims just for laughs. Throw in a bit more bad judgement and the injuries become serious. If that's what happened in any of these, it's very sad the video would get posted and I hope someone went to jail.

The only thing dumber than running over your buddy with a golf cart is letting your buddy run over you with a golf cart.

It looks staged to me. I wonder if maybe they told him they were going to do something else to get him to participate and then they ran his dumb ass over. Is he even wearing shoes?

These have to be bogus. I mean, I sincerely hope they're bogus.

Getting run over by a golf cart at 15mph isn't going to be dramatically different to being run over by, say, a Mini at 15mph. The injuries would be horrendous.

If this nonsense is a 2017 phenomenon, then it'll take a while to get into the National Electronic Injury Surveillance System (NEISS) data. But if you look at the 2016 data, there were 353 instances of golf cart related injuries, treated by ERs in hospitals that report to NEISS, where the injuries were serious enough to be reported.

A few things jump out from the data:

The injuries, as reported, are often very serious.

Broadly speaking, the age groups most represented in the data are young people (25 years of age and younger), and seniors (65+, but more frequently people in that group are aged in their 70s and 80s).

The accidents are very rarely recorded as direct impacts with a moving golf cart. Overwhelmingly, they are instances of falling out of (and frequently off) a moving golf cart, golf carts tipping over at excessive speeds, injuries sustained while the cart is in motion (you know those passengers who stick their legs out of the cart....)

If you do get hit full-on by a golf art, the data tends to look a lot like this:

CPSC Case #: 160351503 Treatment Date: 03/21/2016 PSU: 63 Weight: 103.2251 Stratum: M
Age: 77 - 77 YEARS Sex: 1 - MALE Race: 0 - N.S. Race Other:
Diagnosis: 62 - INTER ORGAN INJURY Diag Other:
Body Part: 75 - HEAD
Disposition: 4 - TREATED & ADMITTED FOR HOSPITALIZATION, HOSPITALIZED
Location: 9 - SPORTS OR RECREATION PLACE
Products: 1213 - GOLF CARTS
Narrative: 77YOM ON THE GOLF COURSE AND HIT BY A GOLF CART SUBARACHNOID HEMORRHAGE

I dunno if this speaks to the current gestalt of things, but I'm kind of surprised this wasn't a thing earlier. Or maybe I'm not privy to secret frat videos where this was done 10 years ago.
