Well, clearly he sucks at the game:

6 top tens out of 11 tourneys (4 of them top 5s) two of them the from the 3 majors of this year

Poor kid - how can he even afford to eat and pay his mortgage....

IMO Rory will hang around leaderboards for the next few years because his ball striking is good enough. But I would make a hefty wager that he won't win anymore majors. I know most disagree, but that is my hunch.

Maybe he didn't appreciate the pep talk his caddie gave him at The Open that actually got Rorys head out of his butt and had him playing well the last 3.5 rounds?

Best Score 2017:  82 (Traditions at the Glen, Par 70)

Favorite Course - Conklin Players Club (Par 72) - Best Score 86

It's about time. I've been saying for some time that Rory needs to make a switch to a caddy who can help him with his putting.

Joe LaCava is out there kind of. Not sure what Tiger's situation is.

Maybe he just needed a change. Even a change of x,y or z can give a psychological benefit which can good even if it is temporary or not

He needs help with course management and club selection even more. He will never be a great putter, but is a good enough putter to win. He often makes silly CM mistakes that Spieth never does. He needs a better caddie.

There was an article somewhere that said he is taking time off waiting for Tiger and that "Tiger has been taking care of him" while he's been unable to play.  So good for him, and good on Tiger.  He certainly has the financial ability to do such a thing.

Being a caddy for a mediocre Rory is better than one for a journeyman pro. Whoever his caddy is will get paid even if he never wins another major. I'm sure he will have no problem finding someone to put on his bag given his talent.

He will never be a good putter?  I don't know.  Even I was able to improve my putting, and Rory (a) has a better starting point, (b) a better motivation, and (c) more time to devote to it.  Putting isn't that hard compared to the rest of the sport (and it also isn't as important, of course).

That's really cool.  I didn't know Tiger was doing that, but it doesn't surprise me that He'd watch out for the caddie (also a good way to ensure he'd still be there upon the return).

I think Rory is so rich now that his motivation is in question.

I must admit,  if I were him I would be thinking about a lot that has nothing to do with golf.
