I might pick up a new Newport Cup for this year's event. The old one… well… it's pretty old. :-)

 @iacasI have read some of the threads of older NCs in the past. Can't recall if it was mentioned, but what is origin/significance of the name 'Newport' for this competition?

I am proud to announce that the 2017 Newport Cup will be held at the Talamore Resort in Pinehurst, NC!

The teams will be competing on both of Talamore's great venues, Mid-South and their New Course (pic below).

Proud you should be! Those are quality courses at par with some of the best in PH..

Played Mid-South this last thanksgiving with @DaveP043, and I just want to go back any time I think about it. Pretty and fair, but by no means a gimme course. Bring your 'distance control' putter...

Thursday, October 19, early am: Foursomes at Talamore's New Course.
Thursday, October 19, early pm: Fourball at Mid-South.

Friday, October 20, early am: Foursomes at Talamore's New Course.
Friday, October 20, early pm: Fourball at Mid-South.

Saturday, October 21, mid-am: Singles matches at Mid-South.

Talamore is hosting us in two team lodges (@mvmac and I will be in a separate lodge), each with three bedrooms that sleep six.
