Did not know Reed didn't have any club endorsements.

Quote

“This has freed me up to use whatever equipment I want. On the equipment side, I’m just out there doing my thing. I’m using whatever I want to use,” Reed said. “I’m able to put 14 golf clubs and a golf ball in the bag that I feel are the perfect fit for me. To do that and come out with a my first major, it was a risk. But it was a risk that was the right one.”

Shameful media.  Patrick Reed wins The Masters and one of them felt the need to stir up some old, completely non-related history of his past and personal family issues.  But I suspect had Tiger won, they would have rehashed all his messy history too.

Two of them, actually.

I'm with you. How about focusing on what a career the guy is building?

The issue of Reed and his family is a private matter, as far as I'm concerned.  While it may show an aspect of his character (we don't know all of the elements involved in this, and we shouldn't), it isn't something that I think the general public needs to know about.  **It seems that his mother, father, and sister disagree since they spoke to journalists.

His issues during his college career, however, are issues that are pertinent to the general golf public.  Hopefully, he has matured and grown into an adult that now  understands the error of his ways.

He sure can play the game.

Things that happened 10 years ago to someone in college aren't really pertinent to the general golf public.

I bet most of the general golf public couldn't even tell you where he went to college, let alone that he was kicked off a team.

I like how Langer's shot didn't even register and by his body language, we know why!

On the pertinence issue, we will have to disagree.

While I know that young people do a lot of stupid things (I include myself in that list), there are some things that are not excusable because he was "just a college kid".  There are some things that you don't do - at any age.

Those were two tremendous shots!

FWIW, I may have jinxed Spieth on 18. I was at a friends house and we were cheering for all the players hoping for a playoff. I said, "Look at the chute they have to hit through on 18!". He didn't quite make it. But seriously. Look at that gap! That would terrify me.

It's not an old story.

He and his family are currently estranged.

And that situation is old.

And what did he do that's on that list?

Probably because some guy called Tiger were teeing up during Langer's swing. That would throw anyone off.

One of the things I really liked Reed doing was his follow through when he was hitting his fade - you can tell he's got great hands to be able to pull off that shot. Love seeing relatively unorthodox stuff!

Currently focusing on: Key 4 - shorter backswing.

What's in the bag: Callaway X2 Hot Driver, Titleist 915F 3 wood, X2 Hot 3 Hybrid, 3, 5-AW Apex Pro irons, 54*, 58* Cleveland RTX, Odyssey Versa 1 Putter

He took some advice from Miller and turned the clubface really quick during impact.

    • Looking at the aerial, there is very few holes were short is bad. You can always putt from off the green, so it makes the short game easier. I can see where the big number is out more often. It's not really a course where you can easily go low at either. The sand down there is super easy to play out of.
    • Yeah, even Jamie doesn't really push (forward) with the right leg here, so I bumped on his use of that phrase/term early as well. They get away from it, though, and when they show the movements it's more obvious that's not what he's talking about. I sometimes wish there was a better term because, as you note, it often leads to people trying to actually "push" with their right leg.
    • Pinehurst #2 is actually pretty playable for the average golfer because… the average golfer misses short a lot, and short misses aren't punished much at Pinehurst.
    • I think he's saying that you put the red line on the top outside edge of the dimple, which is what contacts the face… and I think he meant to say topspin, but… whatever.
    • It's a freaking frictionless course. This is akin to playing with rock flites. These greens have to effectively play the smallest in all of golf. I know they all want to play middle of the green but then putting away from middle after is no picnic.  There was a discussion earlier where they said the projected score for a 5 handicap is 84. I would put my house on the over.
