Why would Woods declare himself 'back and ready to go' as if he was going to win again? I'm sure Woods isn't into using the excuses of age & bad back, he thought he was ready. Something is amiss.

Why would Tiger play any of the tournaments he doesn't win? I mean, if he's ready to go, he should skip any tournaments he's not going to win and he'll have a 100% winning percentage instead of the suck ass 25% he currently holds.

GTFO.

Woods continues to struggle; he declared himself back to form and ready to go when he first came back but his results are meh. Something is amiss.

You do realize he's had three top-12 finishes this year, right?

And I don't think he's ever declared himself "back to form."

Uhhhhh, he's "back and ready to go." He's playing events. He's "back" and "ready to go."

None of that says "I'm going to win and I'm playing as well as I ever have."

None of it.

You just hate Tiger Woods and/or the attention he garners.

Because he doesn't know when he is going to win.

Sure he has. He was very confident the few days before the Masters; "I like my chances" was his quote thru a very toothy grin when asked about winning. Why would he be so confident about winning a major if he didn't think he was back to form?

He’s declared himself ready to go. ‘Back to form?’ Which form? 2000? 2015? No. He’s simply stated he’s able to play without pain and is very enthused about getting better and better as he plays. He’s admitted he still has some cobwebs to knock off. And as  @iacas said he’s had 3 top 12 finishes. Ya kiddin me? Why confident? Because he’s won 14 of them, one on a broken leg and he’s won when not having his A game on. Oh...and he’s had 3 top 12 finishes already. I’d say those are pretty good reasons to be confident.

Tiger will get two more days to practice putting on these greens then. Maybe he will make a few by Sunday afternoon. Or rather noon, since he won't be in the last groups.

Some are shooting 5 to 9 under and Tiger only shoots 3 under?  That's not going to cut it.

If the leaders are only 7 under going into tomorrow, Tiger may have a slim chance to make a run.  Otherwise, I doubt he will make much of a difference.

What is amiss is a basic understanding of tournament golf from you. Most PGATour golfers might consider a career with 2 or 3 victories in a 20 year career pretty good. A year ago it looked as if Tiger might never swing a club again. But because he is feeling fit and confident but failed to win the Masters it isn't good enough for you. And... you behave is if there is some mysterious secret that has stopped him from winning 5 times this year. Have a look at the list of players who missed the cut at the Masters. There can only be one winner, you know. Tiger did a hell of a lot better than half of them. He has contended a few times this year, so why persist with the negative one word "analysis". You may as well say that you are pondering whether it may be possible that Nicklaus' days in the sun are over. You see that Tiger is swinging well. You see that he is confident. Eventually, these two things may come together and he will win. Just accept the fact that it is no longer the year 2000.

That is not what I was saying, you totally misunderstood what I wrote. Re-read what I was responding to and what I responded with.

????

You said that "something is amiss" because he said he feels fit and ready to play, but didn't win, as if there's something sinister that he's hiding.

Apart from that, everyone who plays in any tournament says the same thing anyway.

What is amiss?  He is making cuts and competing.  Do you think he should be winning every tournament?  He has played how many tournaments since back surgery? How well would you play after taking years off and having back surgery?  Frankly, I am impressed with the way he is playing and holding it together.  Watching him try to get his game back is very interesting to me.  It is always inspiring to see someone overcome long odds and hateful people to achieve glory again.  I am rather keen on understanding the current batch of haters of Tiger woods and to why there is much vitriol spewed his way...

    • I don't think anyone will really care.   It's your call.  Just be consistent.
    • I agree, until we are watching the 18th hole in the dark or waiting for the champion to finish and it's been 5+ hours
    • Question for the group. The course I normally play at has 27 holes - 3 9s that they use to for 18 in the various combinations. Is it okay to declare* if I’m playing front or back when I play 9 on this course? I’m figuring I need to declare before I play a shot. *meaning just say to myself that this is the back 9. Curious what people think. Of course, my only holes left are 13 and 17, so I’m going to declare the back 9 for the rest of the year. Probably only one or two more rounds though.
    • This is my opinion as well. I would love to see the LPGA take the lead on this.    This.
    • I agree in general. The one way in which the viewer will notice the pace of play is just that "it's been an hour and Nelly Korda or Scottie Scheffler have only played four holes." Or if for some reason they show a lot of shots of players just standing around when they could be showing golf shots. But I think Andy Johnson said it most recently/best, playing fast is a skill, too. I would love for pro golfers to play faster. You'd see the players you want to see hit more shots in the same time than they do now. So I don't disagree with the pace of play stuff, and hope they can find ways to do it. Heck, the LPGA should leap at the chance to differentiate itself in this way, IMO. So: I stand by what I said in that the TV viewer really doesn't notice much about pace of play. It's rare when they do. I support increasing the pace of play wholeheartedly. But my top five reasons don't include TV ratings or viewership.
