I really hope that either the fairways are tighter than it looks on the videos or that the camera angle distorts the width... I would love for us not to see a repeat of last year's where (although I get that Koepka played brilliantly), it just felt like a case of just playing sensible golf. Completely understand that the US Open rewards patience, but it should force you into a few errors as well by just playing phenomenally tough - those videos make it look like a very nice course, but one the pros will eat up.

That said, can't wait - always love the first three majors of the year and this has me excited.

Currently focusing on: Key 4 - shorter backswing.

What's in the bag: Callaway X2 Hot Driver, Titleist 915F 3 wood, X2 Hot 3 Hybrid, 3, 5-AW Apex Pro irons, 54*, 58* Cleveland RTX, Odyssey Versa 1 Putter

Watching the Women's USO, have to admit, the theme song that Fox uses for Men's and Women's events is growing on me.

Holed in from 250 during qualifier practice round. You might need to fullscreen to see the ball.

Forecast a little far out but looks like it’s gonna be pretty dry the next 10 Days there. Temps in the 60s, sunny, no humidity. Recipe is there for fast fairways and greens. We’ll see if the USGA lets it get fast or they water the course down.

There were a lot of recognizable pros that qualified in Columbus and Memphis. I'm curious as to whether they chose the course because they like the course, or if there was another reason.  Are the number of qualification spots determined by the number of entrants at that site, or are they predetermined?

The Columbus one is always popular because some guys that played in The Memorial just stay there and play the qualifying the next day.

Was surprised not to see Goosen get special exemption. Two-time former champ who mastered that course last time it was there. He failed to qualify so he is out.

Tee times are out. I thought I might try watch a bit of Justin Thomas or DJ. They are playing together. With Tiger. I guess I'm not going to see much of them. But I may try.

Intriguing Thurs/Fri pairings:

Justin,Dustin,Woods (as mentioned);  Stenson,Scott, Kaymer;  Els,Stricker,Furyk;  Garcia,Rahm,Cabrera Bello;  Matsuyama,Leishman,Fowler;  McIlroy,Spieth,Mickelson;  Oosthuizen,Walker,Rose

Carry on my wayward drive

There'll be pars when you are done

Lay your weary wedge to rest

Don't you shank no more

Tap on the image and it'll fullscreen sharper. Sorry, don't have time to make it perfect.

Finau, List and Watson, that's gonna be fun. Bring your binoculars and earplugs.

Ten bucks someone calls Garcia, Rahm and Bello, "The Spanish Armada".

Fleetwood, Noren, Molinari - the exceptional Euros.

ZJ, Schwartzel, Reed - The Masters group.

    • Day 148: 5/23/24 Hit balls on the range measuring ball speed for each club. Recently watched a fitting video where the fitter said he targeted 5 mph ball speed increase for each club.  Mine weren’t quite there. 4 and 5 mph were pretty similar except for 1 ball. Big jump for hybrid, bigger jump for 4-hybrid, and huge change for driver. Swung for the fences with driver and hit them all pretty straight at the end of my session. Several at 111 mph, which is above my normal speed. Finished with chipping release 1 with several clubs.  Good session!
    • Birdied 15 at my home course today and made a birdie the other day at a course I don’t usually play. Will update the spreadsheet once I’m home on my computer.
    • Day 70. Played 9 at Grand Niagara. Very very windy day, but I hit the ball well for me. The wind did help me hit my longest drive ever at 282y and I did make a birdie on a par 5.
    • So, the struggle right now with the driver is that I’m dipping down with the body, shallowing wrongly.  When I try to get my arms down, I end up not turning much at all. End up hitting the sweeping overdraws or if I dip with the body then I’ll hit massive pushes. I’m trying to turn better with the body and also get the arms down at the same time. Easier with the irons than it does the driver. also, here’s an image when you almost entirely missed the ball. 🤣🤣🤣
