Took me a second to try and recall the now replaced tune, it's from The Man from Snowy River. Below is the theme in the broadcast and the original version from the movie.

The new piece, I hear a little influence from Hans Zimmer, he of the mega brass section and also from L'Orchestra Cinématique, whose music is used by movie trailers and combines classical music with percussion/drum machines. I wonder if they didn't want to continue paying for the rights to the Snowy River score or just wanted something new or both.

I like the Snowy theme, I would have tried rearranging that to sound more current. If you look at Man Made Music's site, they rearranged old classics, like the NFL theme and HBO's theme to sound more contemporary. I tried rearranging the Snowy River theme in my head to sound more like today's scores, and less like a 70s kind of elevator music evoking oh we're frolicking in the fields - I think I can be done.

The new theme is growing on me, but call me traditionalist, I like the old one.

"Yeah, but ..."  I never understood the connection between Australia and the Players Championship. (I'm assuming there isn't one.)

I wonder if while they were composing this music anybody asked, ‘You guys do know this is for a golf tournament right?’

Yeah - unimpressed. I’d have gone with Enter Sandman, Living on a Prayer, something...

I honestly can't think of an inappropriate time to play Enter Sandman. It works in all situations.

Working from home today so I can watch.  Went to the range with a co-worker this morning, just got back, Tiger tees off on #1 ... and why can't I get a bounce like that when I hook my drives?  ;-)

Interesting explanation for the 2 stroke penalty for Harold Varner.

Sounds like he would have been ok if the club had been assembled before it was brought out to him.

Ryan Moore's tee shot on #17 hit the flagstick hard and went right in.  And people will still say keeping the flagstick in when putting is a bad idea because it might keep it out.  I'm not great at putting speed, but I'm sure my putting ball is going slower than one does coming off one of Moore's iron shots.

Weekend weather looking very yucky. Hope they get this course while it’s gettable because this weekend definitely won’t be gettable. Looks like a British Open forecast. Cool, wet and some wind.

Tiger just made back-to-back birdies (12, 13).  :-)

I’m afraid for his drive on 18. That’s a scary drive when you don’t know what way it’s gonna go off the tee. He’d be best off takikg an iron there and hitting a low bullet.

    • Hello Golfing Buddies, It has been awhile since I posted but I am the Retired Old Man that asked for advice because I suffered two "T.I.A.'s about switching from playing right handed to playing left handed.  I purchased a Callaway Edge Left handed golf clubs. I changed the grips to oversize grips.  Well, two weeks ago and still at 79 years old, I shot a 44 and 47 on a small course in my hometown.  I am currently changing my shafts from regular flex to Senior flex.  So, you can see' it can be done! So, you other old timers; get with the program! Blessings to all of you. Retired Old Man (Terry Warner)

    • Probably since the golfer has to swing the club back and up. The hands have to move back and up. You can feel them go back and up just by turning the shoulders and bending the right arm, because it brings your hands towards your right shoulder.  The difference is if you maintain width or not. Less width means a shorter feeling swing path so the more you need to lift the arms. Being as someone who gets the right arm bend at 110+ degrees, it's 100% a timing issue. I am use to like a 1.5+ second backswing. It probably should be like 1 second at most. Half a second or more will feel like an eternity. I have had swings where I keep my right arm straighter and I am still trying to time the downswing based on the old tempo.  Ideally, for me, it is probably going to be a much quicker and shorter (in duration) backswing, while keeping the right elbow straighter. Which also means more hinging to get swing length without over swinging.

    • I'm currently recuperating from surgery, so no golf, but have been thinking about this quite a bit. This and the don't overbend the right arm thing. It's hard for me to even pose the position, so I'm not 100% sure, but I feel like it's impossible to have the right humerus along the shirt seam and not overbend your right arm, unless your hands are down near your hips. If the left arm is up at or above the shoulder plane and your right arm is bent less than 90 degrees, then your right humerus has to raise or your hands will get pulled apart. Your left hand can't reach your right hand unless either the right upper arm is up or the right arm is overbent. Is that right? If it is, then focusing on not overbending the right arm would force you to raise the humerus. And actually thinking further on it, if you do overbend your right arm, then you're basically forcing your upper arm down or forcing your left arm to bend. Since (for me at least) bending the left arm too much is not something I think I need to worry about, it means that the bend in the trail arm is really the driving force behind what happens to the right humerus.
