Golf Channel cover started at 10, CBS at noon - but GC is not showing much golf, yet

I'd love to know what the green speed is today vs. next week.

Opening ceremony today and ceremonial first shots
(I think the whole thing took about the same amount of time as JB Holmes to play a shot)

Awful coverage with GC. They apparently think we’d rather watch the commentators talk than watch the women play. Dopes. It’s ironically maddening that they’re talking so much about this being so good for women’s golf yet they’re not letting us watch it. I don’t need to watch Rich Lerner slobber over Augusta. Run your ball washer all you want but we don’t need to watch it. Get the cameras on the golf FFS!!

Yep. Just took a break and came back..they were showing Chamblee talking again ...it’s amazing how stupid they are. They think this is promoting this event? How can these morons think we want to watch the booth talk about the tournament. I’m done with it. Looks like this attempt to promote women’s golf has fallen flat.

And now we’re watching a rebroadcast of the ceremonial first tee shots. Again.

Official coverage doesn't start for 20min on NBC.  Golf Channel just does their pre-game look in and random stuff.  I'm sure NBC will BS for 30min before they actually show golf, but really, who's surprised by any of this?

I can’t watch golf (or any sport I guess besides hockey) without my DVR. There are so many commercials almost everything is unwatchable these days.

I wonder how many players @iacas has in this tournament. The ONLY thing I don’t like is that it is during a women’s major.

I think women’s majors need help. IMHO. I think Augusta should have taken one of the women’s majors and made it the masters. It would be great for LPGA. They would then have 3 majors same as the men.

But I get that Augusta has always tried to help and be good to the amateur game.

So only complaint: why is this during a Women’s Major?

I don’t think it would. But I won’t comment why I believe this. It has nothing to do with sexism.

Fair enough, but what do you think of the main point of my post- the ANWA taking place during a Women’s Major?

Just tuning in...looks like a two horse race at this point. Thought Campos would make it interesting but apparently not.

Yeah that’s a bit of a conundrum. I’m having more interest in the Amateur match but only because it’s Augusta. It seems a bit of an attempt to promote women’s golf in general but I’m sure the LPGA would like those extra viewers as well but they’d catch hell to complain about it so....

I like seeing some of the different camera angles, seeing some holes from a perspective I've not seen before.

But it's still so weird seeing the ladies play this course

    • Hello Golfing Buddies, It has been awhile since I posted but I am the Retired Old Man that asked for advice because I suffered two "T.I.A.'s about switching from playing right handed to playing left handed.  I purchased a Callaway Edge Left handed golf clubs. I changed the grips to oversize grips.  Well, two weeks ago and still at 79 years old, I shot a 44 and 47 on a small course in my hometown.  I am currently changing my shafts from regular flex to Senior flex.  So, you can see' it can be done! So, you other old timers; get with the program! Blessings to all of you. Retired Old Man (Terry Warner)

    • Probably since the golfer has to swing the club back and up. The hands have to move back and up. You can feel them go back and up just by turning the shoulders and bending the right arm, because it brings your hands towards your right shoulder.  The difference is if you maintain width or not. Less width means a shorter feeling swing path so the more you need to lift the arms. Being as someone who gets the right arm bend at 110+ degrees, it's 100% a timing issue. I am use to like a 1.5+ second backswing. It probably should be like 1 second at most. Half a second or more will feel like an eternity. I have had swings where I keep my right arm straighter and I am still trying to time the downswing based on the old tempo.  Ideally, for me, it is probably going to be a much quicker and shorter (in duration) backswing, while keeping the right elbow straighter. Which also means more hinging to get swing length without over swinging.

    • I'm currently recuperating from surgery, so no golf, but have been thinking about this quite a bit. This and the don't overbend the right arm thing. It's hard for me to even pose the position, so I'm not 100% sure, but I feel like it's impossible to have the right humerus along the shirt seam and not overbend your right arm, unless your hands are down near your hips. If the left arm is up at or above the shoulder plane and your right arm is bent less than 90 degrees, then your right humerus has to raise or your hands will get pulled apart. Your left hand can't reach your right hand unless either the right upper arm is up or the right arm is overbent. Is that right? If it is, then focusing on not overbending the right arm would force you to raise the humerus. And actually thinking further on it, if you do overbend your right arm, then you're basically forcing your upper arm down or forcing your left arm to bend. Since (for me at least) bending the left arm too much is not something I think I need to worry about, it means that the bend in the trail arm is really the driving force behind what happens to the right humerus.
