Made 15 on #7 according to Faldo

The leaderboard has him making a 13. Maybe Faldo double counted a penalty or two? Or the people running the leaderboard miscounted.

In my bag:

Driver: Titleist TSi3 | 15º 3-Wood: Ping G410 | 17º 2-Hybrid: Ping G410 | 19º 3-Iron: TaylorMade GAPR Lo |4-PW Irons: Nike VR Pro Combo | 54º SW, 60º LW: Titleist Vokey SM8 | Putter: Odyssey Toulon Las Vegas H7

Yeah I'm watching on my phone at work. They were covering someone else and Faldo was like "I've got someone in my ear telling me duval just made a 15 on 7".

Rory simply cannot play under pressure. He’s done, completely lost it. So no more Rory being a favorite to win.

Shame for Rory on the first hole.  An 8 is not the way to start!

He still has a chance if he can get to +1 or even +2 for his first round - but it's uphill now.

You're kidding, right?  Can't play under pressure???

He's won 4 majors.

Looks like Rory just birdied No.9 to get back to +3.

Let's not plan his funeral just yet.

I’m going to pick Rose for the win. He is a machine with the driver, plus his iron play is really good.

I don't think driver is such an important club around Port Rush.

There will be lots of 3w and irons from the tee.  Just finding the fairway in good position is the key. The rough looks horrible.

Yep - if he can go -2 for the back 9 he's in business, but that is a big ask on the back 9.

Looks like the wind is picking up for the late starters.  I'd say -4 could lead after day 1.

Saw something that says that Duval's blow up on 7 was related to playing the wrong ball.

They got him at a 13 for No. 7 now and +14 on the day.

Yes you’re correct. And that’s over. He was a great flash in the pan though. Total flop in Major’s pressure.

He's already won 2 tournaments this year including The Players

So he's still winning and has won 4 majors.

Flash in the pan, lol.

I think you're a little over excited about the Masters collapse.

Man, I'd love to see Jordan grab his first win in two (!) years. Honestly though, The Open is my favorite to watch. So different than all other tournaments we see during the year. Here's to sitting on the couch and enjoying the next four days of golf.

    • Hello Golfing Buddies, It has been awhile since I posted but I am the Retired Old Man that asked for advice because I suffered two "T.I.A.'s about switching from playing right handed to playing left handed.  I purchased a Callaway Edge Left handed golf clubs. I changed the grips to oversize grips.  Well, two weeks ago and still at 79 years old, I shot a 44 and 47 on a small course in my hometown.  I am currently changing my shafts from regular flex to Senior flex.  So, you can see' it can be done! So, you other old timers; get with the program! Blessings to all of you. Retired Old Man (Terry Warner)

    • Probably since the golfer has to swing the club back and up. The hands have to move back and up. You can feel them go back and up just by turning the shoulders and bending the right arm, because it brings your hands towards your right shoulder.  The difference is if you maintain width or not. Less width means a shorter feeling swing path so the more you need to lift the arms. Being as someone who gets the right arm bend at 110+ degrees, it's 100% a timing issue. I am use to like a 1.5+ second backswing. It probably should be like 1 second at most. Half a second or more will feel like an eternity. I have had swings where I keep my right arm straighter and I am still trying to time the downswing based on the old tempo.  Ideally, for me, it is probably going to be a much quicker and shorter (in duration) backswing, while keeping the right elbow straighter. Which also means more hinging to get swing length without over swinging.

    • I'm currently recuperating from surgery, so no golf, but have been thinking about this quite a bit. This and the don't overbend the right arm thing. It's hard for me to even pose the position, so I'm not 100% sure, but I feel like it's impossible to have the right humerus along the shirt seam and not overbend your right arm, unless your hands are down near your hips. If the left arm is up at or above the shoulder plane and your right arm is bent less than 90 degrees, then your right humerus has to raise or your hands will get pulled apart. Your left hand can't reach your right hand unless either the right upper arm is up or the right arm is overbent. Is that right? If it is, then focusing on not overbending the right arm would force you to raise the humerus. And actually thinking further on it, if you do overbend your right arm, then you're basically forcing your upper arm down or forcing your left arm to bend. Since (for me at least) bending the left arm too much is not something I think I need to worry about, it means that the bend in the trail arm is really the driving force behind what happens to the right humerus.
